The Spiral’s First Steel Column Dedicated at 66 Hudson Boulevard, in Hudson Yards

Recently developer Tishman Speyer held a dedication ceremony to install the first steel column at the site of 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral. A number of people signed the white-colored steel beam before it was raised into place, marking a major step in the construction process for the upcoming supertall office building. The 2.85-million-square-foot structure is located in Hudson Yards and will be designed by Bjarke Ingels of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). Turner Construction Company is the construction manager while Banker Steel is in charge of fabricating the steel for the 65-story tower.

Work Completed at Gene Kaufman Architect’s ML House at 1050 Sixth Avenue, in Midtown

Work has completed at 1050 Sixth Avenue, a 24-story building designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Skyline Developers. Called ML House, it sits to the south of Bryant Park by the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 40th Street. The tower is fully enclosed and features 62 studio to two-bedroom units that are now 50 percent leased. This is the only ground-up residential rental building surrounding Bryant Park.

70 Schermerhorn Street Rises Above Street Level in Brooklyn Heights

Construction at 70 Schermerhorn Street in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn is now above street level. The 12-story condominium is being designed by Eugene Colberg and developed by Lonicera Partners and Orange Management.

YIMBY Tours the Amberly’s Penthouse Lounge at 120 Nassau Street in Downtown Brooklyn

YIMBY recently toured The Overlook, the top-floor, double-height penthouse lounge at The Amberly in Downtown Brooklyn. Also known by its address, 120 Nassau Street, the newly completed, 33-story rental building is designed by Woods Bagot Architects and developed by AmTrust Realty, with interiors by BHDM Design.

One Clinton Street Tops Out Above Brooklyn Heights

One Clinton Street aka 280 Cadman Plaza West recently topped out at 36 stories over Brooklyn Heights. The mixed-use residential building is being designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Hudson Companies. The 295,000-square-foot project will include 134 residential units and One Clinton Street Library, a new public library that is replacing the former Brooklyn Heights Library. The tower is situated on a triangular-shaped plot at the confluence of Clinton Street, Tillary Street, and Cadman Plaza West. At 409 feet, it is currently the tallest structure in the neighborhood.

Exclusive Reveal for Lower Manhattan’s Tallest Proposed Supertall, at 80 South Street

Among New York City supertalls expected to rise as part of the current development boom, 80 South Street has been the only major project of prominence to retain near-complete secrecy when it comes to architectural visualizations. Today, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for the plan tentatively in the works for the site, for developer China Oceanwide Holdings, which would result in the tallest building by roof height in all of Lower Manhattan, likely approaching 1,500 feet above street level.

Permits Filed for 192 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights

Permits have been filed for a 20-story mixed-use building at 192 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. Located between Clinton Street and Borough Hall in the Borough Hall Skyscraper Historic District, the development went before the Landmark Preservation Commission last month as reported by YIMBY. Both Brooklyn Borough Hall and Columbus Park Plaza are both just steps away. Also conveniently located is a major transit hub, with access to the 2, 3, 4, 5, and R subway trains. The Cayre Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The Upper West Side’s New Tallest Tower Begins Gaining Prominence, at 200 Amsterdam Avenue

Construction at 200 Amsterdam Avenue is quickly rising above the surrounding rooftops. When topped out, the 668-foot-tall residential development will hold the title of tallest skyscraper on the Upper West Side until Extell‘s 775-foot tall tower at 50 West 66th Street tops out. The building is designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, which was responsible for The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards. SJP Properties is the developer while CetraRuddy is the lead interior designer. The 283,000-square-foot project, which sits at the southwestern corner of Amsterdam Avenue and West 70th Street, will yield 112 residential units.

Renderings Revealed for Tishman Speyer’s 99 Hudson Boulevard, in Midtown

Developer Tishman Speyer has released renderings for 99 Hudson Boulevard, a 44-story office building at Hudson Yards. The site sits along 11th Avenue between West 36th Street and West 37th Street. Tishman had to first buy two adjacent lots, 34-444 11th Avenue and 550 West 37th Street. The proposed 1.3-million-square-foot structure is the company’s second office project in the area after 66 Hudson Boulevard, aka The Spiral, which sits diagonally across from Bella Abzug Park.

Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel Tops Out at 12 East 48th Street in Midtown

Construction on the Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel has topped out at 12 East 48th Street. The 31-story project is being designed by Handel Architects and developed by Hidrock Realty. There will be a total of 161 rooms, an outdoor terrace, and ground-floor retail space. The site was part of a $47 million purchase several years ago. A reinforced concrete structure makes up the frame of the building, which will be clad with white metallic panels.
