Pelli Clarke Pelli’s 555 West 38th Street Rapidly Ascends in Hudson Yards

Construction passes the halfway mark at 555 West 38th Street, a 570-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards and number 29 on our countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose with SLCE as the architect of record, the 52-story project will yield 598 rental units. The property is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 38th Street and West 39th Street, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Excavation Work Continues for BIG’s 3 West 29th Street in NoMad

Once again, we’re counting down the final days of the year with a list of the 31 tallest skyscrapers under construction across the New York metropolitan region. The first project on the list is 3 West 29th Street, a 551-foot-tall, 34-story office tower in NoMad. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group for HFZ Capital Group and formerly known as 29th & 5th, the project will bring nearly 300,000 square feet of newly built space to the expanding neighborhood. The site is located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, almost directly in line with the Empire State Building. Pavarini McGovern, LLC is the general contractor for the development.

1100 Avenue Of The Americas’ New Glass Façade Installation Progressing in Midtown

Work is progressing on the re-cladding of 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story office building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown. Designed by MdeAS Architects for Brookfield Properties, the project involves an interior renovation and installation of a modern, transparent glass façade on the 386,190-square-foot structure. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is located across from the northern corner of Bryant Park and to the east of COOKFOX‘s One Bryant Park.

Rendering of 660 Fifth Avenue

New Renderings Reveal 39-Story Reclad of 660 Fifth Avenue, in Midtown

YIMBY has a new batch of renderings that depict a full re-cladding of the 39-story 660 Fifth Avenue, a commercial building located between West 52nd Street and West 53rd Street. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties, the $400 million project includes a 21st century facelift as well as the renovation of 1.5 million square feet of office space. Work is planned to commence once the ten remaining leases are completed and tenants vacate, some 12 to 18 months from now, as reported in a previous Wall Street Journal story.
