Ocean Avenue is lined with large, detached single-family homes on deep lots, making it incredibly attractive to developers who want to construct mid-rise apartment buildings in low-slung sections of southern Brooklyn. Last week, one of those developers filed an application to build a six-story residential project at 2503 Ocean Avenue, on the border between Madison and Sheepshead Bay.
Last year, YIMBY reported on the first permits for a new hotel coming to 97 Wythe Avenue, between North 9th and 10th Streets, along a corridor that’s booming with new development. And now a tipster has sent YIMBY a rendering for New York’s first Hoxton Hotel, which is being designed by Perkins Eastman.
Rezonings in the South Bronx have spurred development in Morrisania, Melrose and Mott Haven, but new construction has been slow to arrive in the neighborhoods nearby, like Crotona Park East and Longwood. However, new building applications were filed over the weekend for a seven-story apartment building at 1417 Longfellow Avenue, between Jennings and Freeman Streets in Crotona Park East.
Earlier this year, YIMBY posted drawings and floorplans that offered an idea of what 514 West 24th Street will look like. The site will soon give rise to a 10-story condominium building designed by Roman & Williams, and we can now reveal the first rendering of the project, dubbed The Fitzroy, which also now has its teaser website.
