Downtown Brooklyn’s Macy’s parking garage redevelopment is finally moving forward, and applications filed with the Department of Buildings show that the new tower will rise 664 feet and 51 floors to its rooftop. The existing structure will be reduced down to one floor, then rebuilt into the tower. There will be a 150-car garage in the cellar, 99,652 square feet of retail between the cellar and first floors, and then 586,141 square feet of residential space up above, to be divided amongst 476 condominiums. Tishman Speyer is developing, and Hill West Architects are behind the plans, which were first spotted by Brownstoner.
It was only last summer that the latest major addition to Williamsburg’s nascent office development boom had received a special permit from the City. Now, construction on 25 Kent Avenue is well underway, with the latest from 5B Films showing the first floor beginning to rise.
A few low-slung buildings on the borderlands of Chinatown and the Lower East Side are going to meet the wrecking ball for an attractive new rental development. Building applications have been filed for 282 Grand Street, between Eldridge and Allen Streets on the Lower East Side, which is being designed by Peterson Rich Office.
Permits were filed for 535 Lorimer Street back in December of 2014, and YIMBY posted the first renderings for the project in August of 2015. Foundation work had begun when we last checked in as of March 2016, and today, we have an updated look at what the building will soon look like, as it approaches completion.
A White Castle that has now been demolished will not be the worst thing to have ever occupied 525 Eighth Avenue, which YIMBY reported on back in October of 2016, when permits were filed for a 24-story hotel designed by Gene Kaufman Architects. Revised plans approved in August show a slight increase in the height, to 26 floors, and today, we have the reveal for what the project will look like.
