The reinforced concrete slabs and columns of the Riu Hotel continue to rise at 145 West 47th Street near Times Square. Berg + Moss Architects is the designer and Tribeach Holdings is the developer of the 343-room hotel, which will eventually reach 27 stories and encompass 141,500 square feet of newly built space.
The angular reinforced concrete superstructure of One Boerum Place is rapidly taking shape in Downtown Brooklyn. Located on a narrow site bound by Boerum Place, Red Hook Lane, and Fulton Street, the mixed-use condominium building will eventually top out at 21 stories. The project is being designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Avery Hall Investments, Allegra Holdings, and Aria Development Group, which acquired a $165 million construction loan from Jutland Finance. One Boerum Place is expected to cost around $250 million.
David Chipperfield Architects has released renderings of the new Rolex headquarters at 665 Fifth Avenue in Midtown. Located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 53rd Street, the 25-story structure will replace the company’s current 12-story, 1970s-era building that currently occupies the site.
Front and York, Morris Adjmi Architects‘ 1.1-million-square-foot residential development at 85 Jay Street, is steadily rising in in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Two construction cranes continue to lift and place materials across the wide floor plates of the reinforced concrete structure. CIM Group and LIVWRK are the developers of the 21-story project, which will yield condominiums, rentals, and retail space.
Architectural photographer Tectonic recently checked in on the progress at 80 Flatbush Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. Demolition is underway to clear the site for the construction of a multi-structure development that will include one of the borough’s tallest skyscrapers. A large assembly of scaffolding and black netting shrouds what remains of the original brick structure that is being dismantled floor by floor. Last year the City Council approved the project, which had a reduction in size and scale and a redesign of the largest tower. Alloy Development is the developer of the complex, which is located on a triangular plot bound by Flatbush Avenue, State Street, Third Avenue, and a small sliver of Schermerhorn Street.
