Exterior work is progressing on 50 Trinity Place, a 28-story Aloft Hotel in the Financial District. Designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by FIT Investment Corporation, which purchased the property for $15 million in 2012, the 77,310-square-foot reinforced concrete tower will yield 173 guest rooms at the corner of Trinity Place and Rector Street, diagonally across from Trinity Church. Cauldwell Wingate is serving as the general contractor for the project.
Work is nearing completion on Zero Irving, a 21-story mixed-use building at 124 East 14th Street in Union Square. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and developed by RAL Development, as well as financial partners Junius Real Estate Partners and general contractor Suffolk Construction, the 176,000-square-foot edifice will house both affordable and market-rate office space for technology firms with a range of indoor and outdoor amenities. Zero Irving is located along East 14th Street between Broadway to the west and Third Avenue to the east. Leasing is now underway with JLL as the exclusive marketing agent for the property, which is a very short walk to Union Square and the 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, and W trains.
Façade installation is continuing to progress on the Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, a 138-foot-tall performance venue in the World Trade Center site in the Financial District. Designed by REX with Davis Brody Bond Architects as the executive architect and developed by non-profit company The Perelman, the structure is located between Skidmore Owings & Merrill‘s One World Trade Center to the west, Vesey Street to the north, Fulton Street to the south, and Greenwich Street to the east.
Excavation has finally begun at 262 Fifth Avenue, the site of a long-planned 1,011-foot-tall residential supertall skyscraper in NoMad. Designed by Russian-based firm Meganom with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development under the Five Points 262 Project, LLC, the 60-story tower will yield 139,168 square feet of residential space divided into 41 units and 10,850 square feet of retail space on the first two floors. CM & Associates Construction Management, LLC is the general contractor for the project, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street.
Work is nearing completion on Google’s 1.3 million-square-foot headquarters at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Oxford Properties, the 232-foot-tall building is the centerpiece of the company’s “Googleplex” master plan that will encompass a grand total of 1.7 million square feet across three separate structures. The other two sites include 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street. Turner Construction is responsible for building the 12-story project over the brick-clad base that was historically known as St. John’s Terminal. 550 Washington Street spans two full city blocks between West Street, West Houston Street, Washington Street, and the New York Department of Sanitation building.
