Two months ago, YIMBY got a glimpse of the dramatic changes proposed to convert an Upper West Side community facility into a residential building. Last Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved those changes to 164 West 74th Street.
In June, YIMBY revealed the glassy skyscraper at 200 Amsterdam Avenue, which may become the Upper West Side’s tallest building. Now permit applications have been filed for the 669-foot-tall structure.
Extell is wrapping up work on its part affordable housing, part-luxe condo project at 70 Charlton Street, in the area west of Soho called Hudson Square. Tectonic recently swung by the site between Varick and Hudson Streets and captured the latest progress.
The future 15-story residential building at 41-32 27th Street, called Steel Haus, has reached street level. The narrow building will sit upon an irregularly shaped plot on the northern fringe of the booming Court Square district, north of Queens Plaza. The 46-unit project, developed by the Hakimian Organization, will join a dense block of residential and office mid- and high-rises that have replaced a district of crumbling commercial properties over the past ten years. ESM Construction Corp serves as the general contractor.
Downtown Jamaica is getting ready for its renaissance. YIMBY spotted plans for a new mid-rise near Rufus King Park last week, and now another project has emerged two blocks east, near the Parsons Boulevard stop on the E and F trains. The latest development is headed to 153-33 89th Avenue, between Burdette Place and Parsons Boulevard.
