Sunset Park has seen a substantial amount of infill proposals in the past few months alone, and that trend is only set to continue, with plans now in the works for a commercial redevelopment at 617 62nd Street. Angelo + Anthony Ng’s Architects Studio NY will be designing the site, which will yield a five-story building with a fairly impressive envelope.
Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood has been brimming with infill developments both large and small as of late, and now, building applications have been filed for a nine-story mixed-use structure at 6307 4th Avenue. Plans list the Metropolitan New York Synod as the developer, and show the project will have a 7,600 square-foot community facility component, topped by 49,916 square feet of residential space, which will be divided amongst 73 units. Christine Hunter of Magnusson Architecture and Planning is listed as the architect, and the site is currently occupied by a two-story church building that must first be demolished.
Building applications have been filed for a substantial new development at 5102 4th Avenue, in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park neighborhood. The structure will stand eight stories tall, and span a total construction area of about 72,000 square feet. Within that, 42,233 square feet will be dedicated to residential space, and 12,442 square feet will be allotted for a new community facility, in this case, a library. The library will span the cellar, first, and second floors, while the residential portion will also begin on the second floor. The project’s 50 apartments will average about 840 square feet apiece, indicative of rentals. Magnusson Architecture and Planning is the architect, and HPD is the site’s developer.
Back in 2014, YIMBY reported on the unveiling of plans for a massive new mixed-use project at 6208 8th Avenue, in Brooklyn. The site lies on the boundary of Sunset Park and Dyker Heights, and in November of 2014, Community Board 10 voted against recommending the project move forward (though that is ultimately only advisory to City Planning). Three years later, work has yet to begin, but the plans have now seen major adjustments and a complete reconfiguration.
Ferrara Brothers is planning to begin construction later this year on a new concrete production facility at 740 Third Avenue, located between 23rd and 24th streets in Sunset Park. The New York City Economic Development Corporation selected the Ferrara Brothers to utilize the 102,247-square-foot waterfront industrial site.
