A year ago, the Daten Group paid $24 million for eight properties on Fourth Avenue between 16th Street and the Prospect Expressway in South Slope. Now we have a look at the 11-story condo building headed for the site at 581 Fourth Avenue.
Alchemy Properties is developing a 316-foot-tall condominium tower at the corner of 30th Street and Sixth Avenue in NoMad, and Tectonic swung by the site recently to document the latest progress. The development, known as NOMA, has reached three stories above street level at 50 West 30th Street.
Now that the 421-a tax exemption program may return, developers seem to be taking a hard look at affordable neighborhoods in the Bronx. A builder based in Morris Park, in the East Bronx, has filed plans for an eight-story residential project in nearby Westchester Square, a working-class area with a growing immigrant population.
There are actually many parts of New York City that feel much suburban than city-like. One of them is Douglaston, Queens, and its residents are getting new neighbors. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved construction of a new single-family house at 233-33 38th Drive.
The low-slung warehouses and factories along the Greenpoint waterfront are not long for this world. A 40-story tower is replacing an envelope factory between India and Huron Streets, and now an 11-story, mixed-use building will rise on an industrial site two blocks south at 13 Greenpoint Avenue, next to Transmitter Park.
