Hotels are cropping up all over Williamsburg and Bushwick, but over the weekend, we spotted plans for a six-story hotel in a rather unusual spot – on Broadway in Bed-Stuy, next to the border with Bushwick. The 65-foot-tall building would rise at 1200 Broadway, between Lafayette Avenue and Van Buren Street.
A five-story apartment building may replace a little 1910s wood frame house at 27-15 27th Street in Astoria. New building applications were filed last week to build 10 apartments on the site between Newtown and 30th Avenues, a few blocks south of the Astoria Boulevard stop on the N/Q trains.
41-21 28th Street has risen to its third level, on its way to its final height of 185 feet. The project, developed by All Year Management, will house 166 residential units spread across 126,718 square feet.
One of the big empty lots in Williamsburg’s Broadway Triangle is about to become a seven-story apartment building. Plans were filed yesterday to erect a 70-foot-tall residential development at 7 Whipple Street, on the corner of Flushing Avenue.
The IFC Center, deeply in need of more space, is one step closer to an expansion. The Landmarks Preservation Commission recently approved plans for the movie theater at Sixth Avenue and West 3rd Street to expand to a vacant lot behind it at 14-16 Cornelia Street. That would bump IFC’s five theaters seating a total of 480 people to 11 theaters seating a total of 948 people, while also clearing out the sidewalk with added lobby space.
