1059 Third Avenue’s Cantilevering Figure Nearing 481-Foot Pinnacle On The Upper East Side

1059 Third Avenue is climbing steadily toward its 481-foot and 30-story pinnacle on the Upper East Side, a milestone that is more than likely to be reached before the end of this year. The 127,000 square foot building is designed by Manuel Glas Architects and developed by Real Estate Inverland and Third Palm Capital. Since YIMBY’s last update back in July, the building had crossed the halfway mark, and now has about five floors left before construction workers reach the top.

Permits have been filed earlier this Month for a seven-story residential building at 3128 Henry Hudson Parkway in Spuyten Duyvil, the Bronx. Now, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for what’s coming to the site, and it’s going to look good. The site is a sixteen-minute walk from the 231st Street subway station, serviced by the 1 trains. Refik Radoncic of R+B Development is responsible for the project.

DXA Studio’s Proposed Expansion of 53 Mercer Street in SoHo Heads to LPC

A new proposal to the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission has come forward to expand 53 Mercer Street into the new SoHo headquarters and retail center for Dolce Vita. The design would refabricate the historic look of the three-story SoHo row house, while adding two extra flights out of pedestrian view. DXA Studio is responsible for the architecture.

Permits Filed for 286 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 286 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. The site is five blocks away from the Jay Street subway station, and seven blocks from Borough Hall, serviced collectively by the A, C, F, 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains. Moshe Katlowitz will be responsible for the development.

425 Park Avenue’s Concrete Core Reaches Top Floor in Midtown East

Construction is moving fast for 425 Park Avenue, as is the curtain wall. The new Midtown office tower rising on Manhattan’s most prestigious thoroughfare saw steel begin climbing rapidly as soon as construction breeched the original partially-demolished extant structure. As it now stands, topping out appears imminent. The concrete core has reached the top floor, while the steel has 15 more stories remaining before its final 41st level. L&L Holding Company is responsible for the development.

Journal Squared’s Second Phase and Tallest Tower Now Rising in Jersey City

Whether driving out from the Holland Tunnel, or taking I-78 East or Route 9 into Jersey City, the sight of Journal Squared, designed by HWKN/Hollwich Kushner and Handel Architects and developed by Kushner Real Estate Development, is hard to miss from the highways. Perched on the high hills above the PATH train station to the west of the downtown district, the views and sights of both Jersey City and Manhattan are unbeatable from the top floors. For the past couple of months, work has significantly geared up on the second phase of the complex, which will imminently yield a 72-story residential tower standing 759 feet.

Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 7 Terrace View Avenue in Marble Hill, Manhattan. Marble Hill is the northernmost region of Manhattan, and is the only portion of the borough that isn’t on an island. While it had been connected to the main island of Manhattan before, the US Army cut it off of the city for a canal to expedite shipping in the late 19th Century, and it was later connected to the Bronx in 1914 by filling in the old river. James Kwon will be responsible for developing a structure along the northern edge of the neighborhood, near where the old river used to be.

Triangle Equities has announced an expedited construction plan for their Terminal Logistics Center by the John F. Kennedy Airport. Located at 130-24 South Conduit Avenue in South Ozone Park, Queens, the building will be a multi-tenant hub for air and ground cargo. Groundbreaking has been moved forward to the middle of 2019.

Domino Redevelopment’s 42-Story 260 Kent Avenue Gets First Glass & Molecular-Inspired Facade

Glass is starting to rise at 260 Kent Avenue, and there’s something strangely pleasing about the new façade. The clean pre-cast concrete panels are shockingly white, and have deeply set back windows. The molecular pattern and forms of sugar crystals inspired the unusual design, as an homage to the Domino Sugar Factory that used to dominate the Williamsburg waterfront.
