Construction Nears Halfway Point at 128 West 23rd Street, in Chelsea

Work is moving along smoothly at 128 West 23rd Street in Chelsea, where the first several floors of the future 15-story residential complex have been built. The site is located between Sixth Avenue and Seventh Avenue, and will contain 40,230 square feet of residential space split among 33 units, for an average of about 1,200 square feet apiece. The building will also feature 3,598 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Valyrian Capital and Pan Brothers are the developers of the site while Kutnicki Bernstein Architects is the architect of record.

Sculptural Window Installation Continues at Thomas Heatherwick’s 515 West 18th Street in Chelsea

The bubbling and bulging sculptural windows of 515 West 18th Street in Chelsea are making their way toward the tops of the new pair of residential buildings. The reinforced concrete structures, which straddle the High Line, are designed by Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick Studio and developed by Related Companies. The entire site takes up the eastern half of the parcel of land along Tenth Avenue between West 18th Street and West 19th Street. The taller, 22-story sibling on the western end of the property recently topped out across from the shorter, ten-story component. Both will eventually be enclosed with the same architectural curtain wall of gray-colored bricks and bulbous bay windows. SLCE Architects is the executive architect of the project.

Renderings Revealed for New Residential Skyscraper at 184 Morgan Street in Jersey City

Hoboken-based architect Marchetto Higgins Stieve recently revealed new renderings for 184 Morgan Street, aka 331 Marin Boulevard, in Jersey City. Construction should soon begin for the 41-story residential building, located at the intersection of Marin Boulevard and Morgan Street. The structure will yield 482 residential units and contain 121 parking spaces, a 125-seat theater, and 14,000 square feet of amenities. The Albanese Group is the developer of the property.

The Pendry Hotel at 4 Manhattan West Makes Vertical Headway in Midtown West

The Pendry Hotel at 4 Manhattan West is rising fast in Midtown West. The 21-story development will offer 164 guest rooms and a selection of condominiums on the tower’s upper floors. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by Brookfield Properties, the building features a distinctive wavy façade on the northern and southern elevations, which is now visible in the reinforced concrete structure. The glass curtain wall will be installed later this year.

The NoMad Ritz Carlton Breaches Street Level At 1185 Broadway

The future NoMad site of the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 1185 Broadway is making progress. The first several high-ceiling floors for the podium have been created. Construction workers reached the fourth floor and the start of the main hotel portion of the reinforced concrete structure should soon follow. This is going to be a $500 million Midtown skyscraper, which is located at the northern intersection of Broadway and West 28th Street. It is designed by Rafael Vinoly, while MarriottRitz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties are the three developers. The interiors are being designed by Yabu Pushelberg. The Ritz Carlton will top out at 40 stories tall and reach 580 feet above street level.
