Designed by Michael Schmitt Architect PC, the project involves a full interior and exterior refurbishment following a six-alarm fire that heavily damaged the structure in 2017. Empire State Development is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Murray Street to the north, Park Place to the south, and Church Street to the west.
BLDG Management Company has secured a $425 million loan to complete a 69-story residential skyscraper in Long Island City, Queens. The development, known as The Orchard, will take shape at 42-02 Orchard Street and debut as the tallest residential building in the neighborhood.
Exterior work is progressing on 278 Eighth Avenue, a 14-story mixed-use building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by FXCollaborative and developed by Alchemy-ABR Investment Partners and Chelsea 23rd Realty Corporation, an LLC affiliated with JJ Operating, the 175-foot-tall structure will yield 132,700 square feet with 190 rental apartments and multiple levels of retail space. Square Mile Capital and Pacific Western Bank provided $183 million in construction financing for the project, which is being constructed by Leeding Builders Group between West 23rd and West 24th Streets.
Façade installation is moving along on 69 Adams Street, a 26-story residential building in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Designed by Fariba Makooi of Fischer + Makooi Architects and developed by Rabsky Group, the 280-foot-tall structure will span 258,200 square feet and yield 225 units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, as well as 60 feet of retail frontage, a 25-foot-long rear yard, and 61 parking spaces. Galaxy Developers is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by Front Street to the north, York Street to the south, the elevated Manhattan Bridge roadway to the east, and Adams Street to the west.
Demolition preparations are underway at 335 Eighth Avenue, the site of an upcoming seven-story residential building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX and developed by MAG Partners, the 200,000-square-foot structure will yield 188 residential units with 30 percent dedicated to affordable housing for low- and middle-income residents under the Affordable NY Program, as well as a 23,000-square-foot Lidl grocery store on the ground floor. Titan Industrial SVC Corp is the demolition contractor and Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street within the Penn South affordable housing cooperative, officially known as Mutual Redevelopment Houses.
