The Department of City Planning is expected to weigh in on the construction of a new mixed-use building at 312 Coney Island Avenue in the historic Windsor Terrace section of Brooklyn. Designed by FXCollaborative, the proposed development measures 387,000 gross square feet and includes residential area, a church, a small school, and commercial retail.

Brooklyn’s First Supertall Gets Its Construction Crane, at 9 DeKalb Avenue

Work has taken a big step forward at 9 DeKalb Avenue, the outer boroughs’ first supertall skyscraper and number seven on YIMBY’s countdown of the tallest projects underway in New York City. The construction crane has been assembled at the Downtown Brooklyn site and things are gearing up for the start of vertical progress in 2020. The 73-story, 1,066-foot-tall tower is designed by SHoP Architects and developed by JDS, the same duo behind 111 West 57th Street.

Corner Site for 920-Foot-Tall Skyscraper at 520 Fifth Avenue Cleared for Construction in Midtown

YIMBY checked in recently at 520 Fifth Avenue, the site of a planned 920-foot-tall skyscraper that takes the number 13 spot on our countdown of the tallest projects in progress in New York City. Located in Midtown at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, the plot sits cleared for construction, which YIMBY expects will commence sometime in 2020. YIMBY last reported that Handel Architects is designing and Arthur Hooper of Ceruzzi Properties is developing the project in conjunction with SMI USA. Ceruzzi purchased the property in 2015 for $275 million from Thor Equities.

Hill West Architects Reveals Renderings for Massive Waterfront Complex in Flushing, Queens

The Flushing Willets Point Corona Local Development Corporation recently submitted proposals to New York City’s Department of City Planning to facilitate the redevelopment of a 29-acre stretch of waterfront industrial property and surrounding lands in Flushing, Queens. The proposals were drafted in collaboration with Langan Engineering and Environmental Services and contain new renderings from Hill West Architects offering a first look at what’s to come.
