A new 21-story high-rise is expected to come to Jamaica, as reported by YIMBY yesterday. This is not uncommon for the Queens neighborhood, but 153-19 Jamaica Avenue will be different, and today we have the first renderings for the building. BFC Partners has told YIMBY that all 139 units of the project will let at affordable housing rates. The facilities will also include supportive facilities, managed by New Destiny Housing.

The neighborhood has seen a spike in new development since the city announced an action plan to stimulate the local economy. The site is two blocks away from the Jamaica Center subway station, serviced by the E, J, and Z trains. Brooklyn-based BFC Partners will be responsible for the development. The firm is most notable for being part of the joint ventures responsible for the redevelopment of the Bedford Union Armory and Essex Crossing.
