Permits have been filed for a six-story development on two connected lots, 26 Clay Street and 69 Dupont Street, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The development is eleven blocks from the Greenpoint Subway Station, serviced by the G train. Nine blocks away is the East River ferry, which connects the Brooklyn waterfront with Midtown and Downtown Manhattan. Yoel Schwimmer is listed as responsible for the applications.

The redevelopment of Williamsburg from industrial wasteland to residential enclave has been a slow and relentless process, and this is particularly true around Metropolitan and Union Avenues. Permits were first filed for construction of 80 Ainslie Street in June of 2015, and now, the building’s timber frame is coming into view. Syndicate Architecture is responsible for the design.

Permits Pre-Filed for 120 Lexington Avenue, Nomad, Manhattan

Permits have been pre-filed for a nine-story mixed-use building at 120 Lexington Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan. The site is a block away from the 6 Train’s 28th Street Station, and two stations away from both Union Square and Grand Central. Four blocks away is the scenic Madison Square Park. Daniel Dabakaroff of Skyland Management is listed as responsible for the development.

The site is two blocks from the Nassau Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train. Bi Hang Cheng is listed as behind the applications.

592 Fifth Avenue’s Impending Transformation Revealed in Midtown Manhattan

Developers are transforming a formerly brutalist building at 592 Fifth Avenue, on the corner of East 48th Street in Midtown Manhattan, and today YIMBY has the first look at its impending appearance. Formerly occupied by Bank of America, the structure is being refurbished for renewed commercial-retail use, with speculation that Puma could become an anchor tenant.

670 New Affordable Apartments Revealed at Beach 21st Street, Far Rockaway

Plans have been revealed for 670 new affordable apartments within two buildings in Downtown Far Rockaway, Queens. The project comes as part of the neighborhood’s rezoning announced last September. The NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) along with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) jointly announced the project.

New permits have been filed for a four-story mixed-use building at 717 Sutter Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. The site is five blocks away from the Van Siclen Avenue subway station, serviced by the A and C trains. Eight blocks away is an identically named station, serviced by 2, 3, and 4 trains. An anonymous LLC is listed as behind the applications.

Inspired Renderings Revealed for 1508 Avenue Z, Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn

Too many renderings come through that resemble the same mold of international style. Today, Citiscape Consulting has revealed an unusual design for a long-term care facility at 1508 Avenue Z in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. The post-war Japanese Metabolism movement, a style that integrated organic material and architecture, was what inspired the 16-story building’s distinctive look.

Exclusive Reveal for Another Major Residential Development in Astoria at 37-01 30th Street

Today YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for yet another major new development coming to Astoria, in Queens, showcasing design by Aufgang Architects. The depiction shows the building’s façade along 30^th Street. Concrete panels will be installed in a rectilinear pattern likened to a minimalist refinement of row houses, which projects the sheer scale of the city block-sized structure. The site is just ten blocks away from the Astoria Boulevard subway station, serviced by the N and W trains.

Renderings Revealed & Permits Approved for 27-41 West Street aka Calyer Place, Greenpoint, Brooklyn

In 2006, there was a 10-alarm fire that destroyed the historic waterside Greenpoint Terminal Market. A few small buildings remained onsite before they were finally demolished in 2017. Now, the site is cleared for development and Greenpoint is about to yield yet another major addition to New York City’s skyline, named Calyer Place, after the neighborhood street. Renderings have been released, revealing a scenic landscaped public esplanade overlooking the Manhattan skyline, along with five mixed-use structures populating the site. M&H Realty LLC is responsible for the development.
