Construction is now occurring above ground level on the 63-story, 483-unit mixed-use tower under development at 118 Fulton Street, located on the corner of Dutch Street in the Financial District. The progress can be seen thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits indicate the tower, dubbed 19 Dutch, will encompass 595,140 square feet and rise 758 feet above street level. That’s a significant height increase from the summer, when a 49-story tower was planned.
JHG Holdings has acquired, for $50.4 million, the Parish of St. Vincent de Paul at 123 West 23rd Street and the four-story tenement buildings at 116-120 West 24th Street, in Chelsea. The developer also owns the four-story hotel at 131 West 23rd Street, The Real Deal reported. The assemblage’s footprint measures 17,968 square feet and plans are already on file for a 35-story residential-hotel project.
Vertical construction is moving full steam ahead on the 42-story, 452-key EDITION hotel (by Marriott) under development at 701 Seventh Avenue. That’s on the corner of West 47th Street in the heart of Times Square. The progress can be seen thanks to a photo posted to the YIMBY Forums. The tower, dubbed 20 Times Square, will rise 517 feet above street level and will contain 269,769 square feet of commercial space, according to the latest building permits. Retail space will be located on two cellar levels and the ground through fourth floors. Actual hotel rooms will be located on the 14th through 40th floors.
Construction has topped out and façade installation is nearing completion on the 35-story, 220-unit mixed-use building under development at 323 Tenth Avenue, located between West 28th and 29th streets in West Chelsea. When the city rezoned Williamsburg in 2004, it hoped to encourage truly mixed-use buildings that knitted together apartments, office space, and light industrial businesses. Few developers have taken advantage of the commercial part of the zoning, instead choosing to squeeze as many apartments as possible onto a lot. Chelsea-based developer and architecture firm Flank decided to take a different path for their project at 60 South 2nd Street, where three quarters of the building will be devoted to office space.
