One Madison Avenue’s Façade Nears Completion in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Exterior work is nearing completion on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial building in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation of an existing eight-story structure and the construction of a 19-story addition above its parapet, and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space and ground-floor retail. NYC Constructors is building the expansion and AECOM Tishman is the construction manager for the property, which occupies a full block at the southeast corner of Madison Square Park between Madison Avenue, Park Avenue South, East 23rd Street, and East 24th Street.

Residential Tower at 4650 Broadway Tops-Out in Inwood, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on Sherman Plaza, a 19-story mixed-use building at 4560 Broadway in Inwood, Manhattan. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Arden Group, the structure will yield 222 rental apartments, lower-level retail space, a community facility, and tenant amenities. The latter will include a fitness center, a children’s playroom, a resident lounge, and multiple outdoor terraces.

KPF’s 520 Fifth Avenue Supertall Continues its Ascent in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is rising on 520 Fifth Avenue, a 76-story residential supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina, which took over from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA in 2019, the 1,000-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 98 residential units, as well as commercial space on the lower floors and four cellar levels. WSP is the structural engineer, DeSimone Consulting Engineers is the façade consultant, and Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street, one block north of Bryant Park.
