The curtain wall is steadily rising up 1059 Third Avenue, a 481-foot-tall mixed-use tower on the Upper East Side. Designed by Manuel Glas Architects and developed by Real Estate Inverlad and Third Palm Capital, the slender reinforced concrete superstructure topped out at 30 stories and will yield a total of 127,000 square feet. The development will contain 38 condominiums spread across 103,900 square feet, averaging around 2,740 square feet apiece.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission recently reviewed applications for an exterior renovation of a 19th century rowhouse and stable building in Manhattan’s historic Meatpacking District. The neighboring structures are located at 49 and 51 Gansevoort Street and will serve as a flagship location for luxury retailer Loro Piana. Together, the properties will share the address 3 Ninth Avenue.
Permits have been filed for a six-story commercial building at 215 West 42nd Street in Times Square. Located between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue, the interior lot is minutes from the 42nd Street subway hub, serviced by the 1, 2, 3, 7, A, C, E, N, Q, R, W, and S trains. NYC Economic Development Corporation is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The Olnick Organization has received approvals from the City Planning Commission to construct five new towers within the Lenox Terrace housing complex in Central Harlem. The Commission voted 11-1, with one abstention, in support of the project following drastic revisions to the original proposals.
Exterior work is moving along at Beckford Tower and Beckford House, a pair of residential buildings in the Yorkville section of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Workers are installing the final sections of Brynne Brownstone and Indiana Limestone on Beckford House, located at 301 East 81st Street, also addressed as 1562 Second Avenue, and Beckford Tower at 301 East 80th Street. The project is designed by Studio Sofield and SLCE Architects and is being developed by Icon Realty Management. CM & Associates is in charge of construction management.
