YIMBY Tours Supertall Views From 35 Hudson Yards With Architect David Childs

Another major milestone was reached last Friday in conjunction with the celebratory opening of Hudson Yards35 Hudson Yards, a 1,000-foot-tall, Skidmore Owings & Merrill-designed supertall, launched sales of its 143 residential units. David Childs is the architect of the glass and Jura limestone skyscraper, which is the tallest residential tower at Hudson Yards. Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group are the two developers for the 1.1-million-square-foot tower. The interiors are being designed by Tony Ingrao while sales are being handled by Related Sales and Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group.

Hudson Yards‘ first public-facing attractions—the Shops & Restaurants and Thomas Heatherwick’s interactive sculpture Vessel—will welcome the crowds that have watched patiently from afar as the project’s soaring, glass-sheathed towers have transformed the skyline. Elkus Manfredi Architects is the designer of the seven-story retail center, of which Neiman Marcus is the anchor tenant. The city’s largest indoor shopping mall with more than 100 stores, it features 720,000 leasable square feet with nearly 85 percent of the space already occupied.

The 42,758-square foot lot is located at the intersection of Central Avenue and Nameoke Street. The proposed scope for the new project is around 195,000 square feet. The site is close to the Far Rockaway – Mott Avenue subway station at the end of the A line. Ericka Keller-Wala of Brisa MPB Community Square LLC is listed as the owner of the site. Paul Castrucci Architect is listed as the designer, while William Vitacco Associates, LTD filed the permits.

NoMad’s Virgin Hotel Tops Out At 1225 Broadway, Work on Podium Floors and Facade Continues

The future Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has officially topped out above NoMad. The 476-foot tall skyscraper has about 300,000 square feet of newly built space. The interiors will yield a 460-key hotel and 90,000 square feet of retail on the lower podium floors. VOA Associates is the designer of the glass skyscraper while Lam Group is the developer. Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group will be in charge of managing the hotel when completed.
