The terracotta and bronze façade has reached the bottom of the steel crown of SHoP Architects‘ 111 West 57th Street, the second-tallest project in YIMBY’s construction countdown. Developed by JDS Development, Property Markets Group, and Spruce Capital Partners, the 1,428-foot-tall residential skyscraper features a height-to-width ratio of 24:1, making it the most slender building in the world. A total of 46 condominiums will be created and marketed by Douglas Elliman. Studio Sofield is the interior designer.
The Beach 21st Street project, a 226,000-square-foot mixed-use building, will soon break ground as part of the city’s Downtown Far Rockaway Rezoning and Roadmap for Action. The long-running initiative was conceived by Mayor Bill de Blasio to encourage new retail, housing, and investment opportunities in southeastern Queens.
Workers are forming the last floors of an eight-story, ten-unit building at 128 East 28th Street in NoMad. The low-rise residential building made quick progress since YIMBY checked in on the site in June, when excavation was still ongoing. TRA Studio is the designer and Sinha Development is the developer of the 80-foot-tall, 21,038-square-foot project.
L+M Development Partners has closed on $179 million in financing that will support the construction of three new buildings within the Marcus Garvey Extension Project. Located in Brownsville, Brooklyn, the buildings will establish 348 affordable and supportive housing units and approximately 13,400 square feet of commercial and community facility space.
The Department of City Planning is expected to weigh in on the construction of a new mixed-use building at 312 Coney Island Avenue in the historic Windsor Terrace section of Brooklyn. Designed by FXCollaborative, the proposed development measures 387,000 gross square feet and includes residential area, a church, a small school, and commercial retail.
