David Adjaye’s 130 William Street Finishes Curtain Wall Installation in Financial District

The final charcoal-colored curtain wall panels were recently hoisted into place on 130 William Street, the 19th tallest skyscraper under construction in our annual countdown. Designed by David Adjaye of Adjaye Associates, the 800-foot-tall residential building made rapid progress throughout 2019, capped now by the completion of its signature façade of concrete-cast arches. The 66-story Financial District project is being developed by Lightstone, with Hill West Architects as the architect of record. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is handling sales and marketing for the 242 residential units, which will range in price from around $1,300,000 for a one-bedroom to $20,000,000 for a four-bedroom, full-floor penthouse.

Located between East 8th Street and East 9th Street, the lot is one block north of Washington Square Park and a short walk to the 8th Street subway station, serviced by the R and W trains. Madison Realty Capital is listed as the owner behind the applications, purchasing the mixed-use property in 2015 from City Urban Realty for $27.5 million.

Construction Progresses Rapidly at 86 Delancey Street on the Lower East Side

Installation of the dark-colored exterior panels and balconies of 86 Delancey Street is getting close to completion. Meanwhile, interior work is also progressing rapidly at the 12-story mixed-use residential building on the Lower East Side. YIMBY last reported back in July 2017 that SWA Architecture is the designer and David Escava is developing the project, which will have 23,668 square feet of residential space split between 24 units, for an average of just under 1,000 square feet apiece.

YIMBY checked in on the progress of two properties under construction at Essex Crossing: 180 Broome Street designed by Handel Architects, and 202 Broome Street designed by CetraRuddy Architecture. One of the largest developments to come to the Lower East Side, Essex Crossing is a mixed-use project composed of nine different buildings as part of a $1 billion master plan to bring new affordable housing, retail, dining, entertainment, and communal facilities to the neighborhood.
