Façade Installation Begins on 282-286 Grand Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Façade installation has begun on 282-286 Grand Street, a seven-story residential building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Developed by Marc Straus, who has owned the site since the 1970s, the 23,500-square-foot structure will yield 25 rental apartments spread across 22,500 square feet and 1,000 square feet of commercial space. First Standard Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located between Forsyth and Eldridge Streets.

Brookfield Provides $272.5M Loan for Residential Conversion Project at 160 Water Street in Financial District, Manhattan

Brookfield Real Estate Financial Partners has provided a $272.5 million construction loan for a major office-to-residential conversion project at 160 Water Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. The 530,000-square-foot building will eventually debut as a 588-unit rental property.

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Wraps Up Construction in Manhattan’s Financial District

Work on the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is finally coming to a close on the verge of the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the white marble-clad structure is prominently perched atop Liberty Park just south of the original World Trade Center complex in the Financial District, and is the long-awaited replacement for the former church of the same name that was destroyed by the collapse of the South Tower on 9/11.

The Tin Building Opens at 96 South Street in the Seaport District

Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s newest food hall is now open to the public in the Tin Building, a historic three-story building at 96 South Street in the Seaport District. Designed by Roman & Williams and developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, the 53,000-square-foot structure was dismantled from its original location along the East River and rebuilt 32 feet away, directly adjacent to the SHoP-designed Pier 17. The $200 million project features six full-service restaurants, six fast-casual counters, four bars, a grocery store, and private dining space, all spread across two floors. The property is located off Fulton Street to the east of South Street and the FDR Drive.

LPC Approves Renovations at 32 Avenue of the Americas in Tribeca, Manhattan

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) has approved proposals to complete ground-floor renovations and lighting enhancements on 32 Avenue of the Americas, a 27-story Art Deco office tower in Tribeca. Completed in 1932 by Ralph Thomas Walker of Voorhees, Gmelin and Walker, the building features a landmarked façade and lobby with extensive mosaic murals by Hildreth Meière.

Moxy Lower East Side’s Exterior Wraps Up at 145 Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Exterior work is wrapping up on the Moxy Lower East Side, an 18-story hotel tower at 145 Bowery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Stonehill Taylor and developed by Lightstone Group, the 127,000-square-foot structure will yield 303 guest rooms, a Japanese restaurant, two bars, a subterranean nightclub, and an outdoor rooftop lounge. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Bowery and Broome Street.

Excavation Work Progresses at 151-165 Broome Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Excavation work is progressing at 151-165 Broome Street, the site of a two-building affordable housing complex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Grand Street Guild Housing Development Fund Company, Grand Street Guild East Housing Development Fund Company, Southeast Grand Street Guild Housing Development Fund Company, and Clinton Broome Development LLC, the project consists of the 15-story “Building 3-5” at 165 Broome Street and 16-story “Building 3-6” at 151 Broome Street, and will yield a combined total of 480 units. Monadnock Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located within the Seward Park Extension master plan and bound by Broome Street to the north, Pitt Street to the east, and Clinton Street to the west.

Renderings Reveal Expansion of Roy Lichtenstein’s Studio at 741/745 Washington Street in West Village, Manhattan

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is now reviewing proposals from the Whitney Museum of American Art to renovate and expand Roy Lichtenstein’s West Village Studio at 741/745 Washington Street in Manhattan. If approved, the 9,000-square-foot building would receive a single-story brick addition facing Washington Street, new windows to replace an existing garage door on the ground floor, new stair and elevator bulkheads, and a chimney expansion to bring the building up to modern code.

208 Delancey Street Completes Construction on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

Construction is complete on 208 Delancey Street, a 12-story residential building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Designed by ODA New York and developed by New Empire Corporation, the 85,000-square-foot structure yields 85 condominium units in studio to three-bedroom layouts with sales and marketing led by Compass. The property is located by the corner of Delancey Street and Pitt Street.

Sage Realty Secures $127.5M Loan to Complete Improvements at 77 Water Street in Financial District, Manhattan

Sage Realty and Principal Real Estate Investors have secured a $127.5 million financial package to complete major capital improvements at 77 Water Street, a 26-story commercial building in Manhattan’s Financial District. The scope of work will focus on the pedestrian plaza at the foot of the property, upgrades to the lobby, and a redesign of the existing arcade.
