St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Continues to Wrap Construction in the Financial District, Manhattan

Construction is getting close to completion on St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in the Financial District. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and developed by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the reinforced concrete structure sits atop Liberty Park by the intersection of Greenwich and Liberty Streets. The ground floor of the religious facility is adjacent to the elevated park space and also rests on the roof of the vehicle security center for the subterranean ramps that run beneath the World Trade Center.

Construction is nearing completion on NYU‘s campus expansion at 181 Mercer Street in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the 735,000-square-foot complex consists of three towers rising from a full-block podium between Houston, Mercer, and Bleecker Streets and I.M. Pei’s University Village complex. The project is the culmination of over a decade of proposals, planning, and building that dates back to the mid 2000s. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the development, which is aiming for LEED gold certification.

Construction is complete on The Riverview, a ten-story condominium building at 219 Hudson Street in Hudson Square. Designed by Rawlings Architects and developed by Joel Braver, the property will yield 14 units, ground-floor retail space, and a community facility at the intersection of Hudson and Canal Streets, just to the west of the entrance to the Holland Tunnel.

Beefbar, an upscale, meat-focused restaurant will open its first U.S. location at 105 Hudson Street, a long-vacant retail space and former home of Nobu’s Tribeca outpost. The venture is the first collaboration between global restaurateur Riccardo Giraudi of Monaco and TriBeCa Hospitality, the sponsor of Beefbar’s restaurant.

Finishing Touches Underway on Tin Building in Seaport District, Manhattan

Finishing touches are underway on the Tin Building, a three-story commercial market building at 95 Marginal Street on Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport District. Designed by SHoP Architects and developed by Howard Hughes Corporation with Plaza Construction as construction manager, the 53,000-square-foot structure will house a new seafood-themed market by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The steel-framed low-rise building is located to the east of South Street and the elevated FDR Drive, directly to the west of SHoP’s Pier 17 structure, which features multiple restaurants and bars and has hosted many events on its expansive outdoor rooftop since its completion several years ago.
