Curtain Wall Installation Progresses at 799 Broadway in Greenwich Village

Façade installation is making progress at 799 Broadway, a 12-story office building in Greenwich Village. Designed by Perkins + Will and developed by Columbia Property Trust, the 182-foot-tall project will yield 180,000 square feet of commercial space marketed by JLL. The corner lot is located at the intersection of Broadway and East 11th Street, and was purchased by Normandy Real Estate Partners and Ares Management in 2016 for $101 million. Early work required the demolition of several low-rise structures before excavation and construction of the new edifice could begin.

NYU’s Partially Topped-Out Expansion at 181 Mercer Street Progresses in Greenwich Village

Curtain wall installation is progressing at 181 Mercer Street, NYU‘s 23-story, 750,000-square-foot complex in Greenwich Village. Designed by Davis Brody Bond and KieranTimberlake, the mixed-use project sits along Houston Street between Mercer and Bleecker Streets, directly to the east of I. M. Pei’s three-tower University Village complex.

Extell Reveals New York City’s Largest Private Outdoor Garden at One Manhattan Square in Two Bridges

In an effort to bolster sales at One Manhattan Square, Extell Development Company has unveiled an acre of private outdoor amenities designed by West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture. Located in the Two Bridges section of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the neighborhood’s signature tower stands 800 feet above the East River and now comprises 100,000 square feet of total amenity space.

Renderings from Fogarty Finger Architecture reveal a major renovation and redesign of a through-block commercial lobby at 80 Pine Street in Manhattan’s Financial District. The Rudin Family, owners and original developers of the property, commissioned the architects to complete a brighter, more inviting entry into the Class A office tower.

76 Eighth Avenue Nears Topping Out in Greenwich Village

Construction is approaching topping out at 76 Eighth Avenue, a ten-story office building in Greenwich Village. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sang Lee, Noviprop, and Plus Development, the 120-foot-tall edifice will yield 30,000 square feet of office space and ground-floor retail. The project site is located at the corner of West 14th Street and Eighth Avenue.

YIMBY went to take a look at 250 Water Street, the site of Howard Hughes‘ planned supertall in the South Street Seaport District. Early renderings from Skidmore Owings & Merrill show the mixed-use skyscraper rising nearly 1,052 feet tall. However, it may be a few years before any progress begins on the Financial District project, which would become the tallest residential building below Canal Street.

215 Pearl Street’s Exterior Reaches Long-Awaited Completion in Financial District

External work is complete at 215 Pearl Street, a 38-story hotel in the Financial District. Gene Kaufman Architect, which took over from Nobutaka Ashihara Architects, is the architect of record and designing interiors as well. Lam Group is developing with The Rinaldi Group as the construction manager, the 165,655-square-foot structure will house a Courtyard by Marriott and a Residence Inn by Marriott with a total of 320 guest rooms.

45 Park Place Awaits Resumption of Construction in Tribeca

Construction still appears stalled at 45 Park Place, a 667-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Tribeca. Designed by SOMA Architects with Ismael Leyva Architects as the executive and residential architect, the 43-story building has sat dormant since the end of 2019. The project, which is being developed by Sharif el-Gamal of Soho Properties with Piero Lissoni as the interior designer, is located between Church Street and West Broadway and sits just to the north of the border with the Financial District.

Pier 26 Officially Opens to the Public in Tribeca

This week, the Hudson River Park Trust officially opened Pier 26 in Tribeca, the first new public pier to debut within Hudson River Park this decade. Designed by landscape architect OLIN, the pier will serve multiple uses including public recreation, educational programming, and ecological support for plant species native to the island of Manhattan.

Glass Regresses From One Seaport’s Allegedly Leaning Concrete Frame, in the Financial District

It appears that exterior progress has taken a step backward on Seaport Residences, a 60-story residential skyscraper formerly known as One Seaport at 161 Maiden Lane in the Financial District. Located on the border of the South Street Seaport District, the 200,000-square-foot building is designed by Hill West Architects and developed by Fortis Property Group LLC, with Ray Builders serving as the contractor. Groves & Co is the interior designer for the 80 units, which are being managed by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing.
