Excavation Progresses for 262 Fifth Avenue Residential Supertall in NoMad, Manhattan

Excavation is continuing at 262 Fifth Avenue, the site of a proposed 1,043-foot residential supertall in NoMad and number eight on our year-end construction countdown. Designed by Russian-based firm Meganom with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development under the Five Points 262 Project, LLC, the 60-story tower will yield 139,168 square feet of residential space divided into 41 residential units and 10,850 square feet of retail space on the first two floors. CM & Associates Construction Management, LLC is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street.

The Spiral Nears Completion at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards, Manhattan

Curtain wall installation is wrapping up on The Spiral, a 1,041-foot commercial supertall at 66 Hudson Boulevard in Hudson Yards and number nine on our construction countdown. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 66-story structure will yield 2.85 million square feet of office space and is expected to cost nearly $3.7 billion. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor, Banker Steel provided the steel work, and Permasteelisa is serving as the contractor for the reflective floor-to-ceiling glass enclosure for the property, which takes up a full city block between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues and 34th and 35th Streets.

Construction is progressing on 555 Greenwich Street, a 16-story office building in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by the joint venture Hudson Square Properties, which includes Trinity Church Wall Street, Hines, and Norges Bank Investment Management, the structure will yield 270,000 square feet and will connect on nearly every floor with an adjacent building at 345 Hudson Street via a horizontal overbuild. Together, the complex will comprise 715,000 leasable square feet. The property is located along Greenwich Street between Charlton and King Streets.

At number 12 on our construction countdown is 520 Fifth Avenue, a proposed 995-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Rabina Properties, who took over as the lead developer in 2019 from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA, the 507,608-square-foot structure will yield 98 residential units, commercial space, and four cellar levels. Permit applications that were filed in the beginning of 2021 for the project, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street.
