The Stonewall Inn, landmark of the LGBT movement, is a step closer to becoming an actual landmark. On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to schedule (or calendar, in LPC speak) a public hearing to designate the bar at 51-53 Christopher Street as an individual landmark. That hearing will take place on Tuesday, June 23.
Ash Management has filed applications to renovate and expand the low-rise building assemblage spanning 947-955 Flatbush Avenue and 2-10 Snyder Avenue, in northern Flatbush, into a single three-story, 34,820 square-foot commercial building. The final structure will have retail space on the ground floor and offices above. Gabriel Gingishvili’s MGM Creations is designing.
According to Brownstoner, Renaissance Realty Group’s two-story, 34,480 square-foot retail building has topped out at 252-260 Atlantic Avenue, in Boerum Hill. Dubbed Atlantic Galleria, TD Bank, Blink Fitness and Michaels have already signed leases, and opening is expected later this year. SBLM Architects is designing the project.
Since YIMBY last checked in on progress at 220 Central Park South and 217 West 57th Street, the latter building has been revealed in official renderings. But now we have an update on both sites from YIMBY reader ILNY, with the latest set of photos peeking into the projects from ground level.
Sopher Realty has filed applications for a single-story, 9,745 square-foot commercial-retail building spanning the lots at 1953-1965 University Avenue, in University Heights. Howell Belanger Castelli Architects is designing, and the existing single-story retail structure most recently passed pre-demolition inspection late in March. The site’s current structure was involved in a fire late last year, according to DNAinfo.
