Co-op City, in the northeastern Bronx, already has one of the city’s biggest malls at Bay Plaza Shopping Center. Now reader Mike Giuliani has sent along photos of new retail headed for 500 Baychester Avenue, at the corner of Bartow Avenue near the mall.
SL Green’s planned tower next to Grand Central is making significant headway, and demolition for the site’s former buildings is already ongoing. And while we had previously revealed several prospective views of the 1,500-foot supertall, which was approved by the City Council this past May, a tipster has sent along a few more renderings, giving a more comprehensive overview of the tower within the context of its Midtown surrounds.
Microsoft is planning to open their first Manhattan flagship store in the five-story building at 677 Fifth Avenue, between East 53rd and 54th Street, according to The Wall Street Journal. The structure has undergone an extensive renovation, acquiring a new façade and updated interior spaces. The store will span 22,269 square feet over five floors, and opening is expected on October 26th at noon.
Earlier this week, we posted photos of work at 217 West 57th Street as viewed from the street level, and now we have a fresh set of overhead shots from reader Andrew McKeon, featuring both 220 Central Park South and 217 West 57th Street. And when comparing with the last set of similar shots from February, progress has been very significant.
Williamsburg’s ongoing development boom is stretching across all parts of the neighborhood, and includes everything from apartments to hotels and office buildings. But smaller infill is just as important in terms of rounding out the pedestrian realm, and now we have renderings of plans for an old warehouse at 120 North 6th Street, which Kenneth Park Architects will transform into both retail and office space.
