New Renderings Released for Dual-Skyscraper Development at 495 Eleventh Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

New renderings have been revealed for 495 Eleventh Avenue, a pair of residential skyscrapers in Midtown, Manhattan. Located between West 39th and 40th Streets directly next to the Jakob K. Javits Center expansion, the two towers will stand 680 feet tall and 57 stories, and 653 feet tall and 56 stories. The site currently functions as a parking lot for the New York Police Department. FXCollaborative and Gwathmey Siegal Kaufman Architects are the designers responsible for the work.

1100 Avenue of the Americas’ Re-Cladding Nears Completion in Midtown, Manhattan

Façade work is wrapping up on 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story office building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by MdeAS Architects and developed by Brookfield Properties, the project involves a complete exterior overhaul as well as extensive renovations to the building’s 386,190-square-foot interiors. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is located across from the northern corner of Bryant Park and to the east of COOKFOX‘s One Bryant Park.

Preliminary Renderings Reveal a Dual-Tower Mixed-Use Development in West Harlem, Manhattan

Renderings from SHoP Architects reveal One45, a proposed mixed-use development that will house the new Museum of Civil Rights, income restricted housing, and unspecified community facilities. The development site comprises a five-lot assemblage in West Harlem between 144th and 145th Streets, Lenox Avenue, and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard. Elevation diagrams for the proposed buildings reveal an 85-foot-tall base with two towers, each rising to a height of approximately 363 feet. Roof mechanicals account for an additional 30 vertical feet.

TSX Broadway’s New Superstructure Begins Assembly at 1568 Broadway in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction has begun on the new superstructure for 1568 Broadway, a 470-foot-tall hotel in Times Square. Designed by PBDW ArchitectsMancini Duffy, and Perkins Eastman and developed by L&L Holding CompanyMaefield Development, and Fortress Investment Group, the project involved the partial demolition of the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton to make way for the new 550,000-square-foot tower, which will be dubbed TSX Broadway. The overhaul also includes the raising of Kirchoff & Rose’s 108-year-old Palace Theater by 30 feet to make room for ground-floor retail space. The site is located at the corner of Seventh Avenue and West 47th Street to the east of the red TKTS stairs, and is slated to cost $2.5 billion.
