Construction Reaches Halfway Mark on HAP Eight, aka 215 West 28th Street, in Chelsea

Construction has reached the first setback on HAP Eight at 215 West 28th Street in Chelsea. The 20-story, 210-foot-tall residential project is being designed by DXA Architects and developed by HAP Investments, and consists of two separate buildings spanning over 300,000 square feet. The two structures are addressed as 215-219 West 28th Street and 221-229 West 28th Street.

Demolition Continues on Solow’s 10-20 West 57th Street in Midtown

Work is continuing on the demolition of 10-20 West 57th Street to make way for a 52-story mixed-use skyscraper designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill. So far one four-story building has been fully razed, and 20 West 57th Street is currently in the midst of coming down. Scaffolding and black netting shroud the northern elevation with the top floors already torn apart and dismantled. Two other structures in the parcel remain and have been vacated. James Patterson of Ancora Engineering is the applicant of record and Solow Realty & Development Group is the developer of the 672-foot-tall, 383,000-square-foot skyscraper, which will contain 80 residential units spread across 202,738 square feet of space.

OMA’s Cantilevered Towers Break Ground At Greenpoint Landing in North Brooklyn

Brookfield Properties and Park Tower Group have officially broken ground on the most anticipated phase of the Greenpoint Landing mega-development on the shores of northern Brooklyn. Designed by Jason Long of OMA, the new component is comprised of two residential towers and a vast extension of an existing public esplanade. The western tower features a series of cantilevers that reach outward in step with setbacks on the eastern edifice, giving the development a look reminiscent of a game of Tetris.
