Planned Halletts North Development Revealed in Astoria, Queens

A recently published Environmental Assessment Statement has revealed Halletts North, a 1-million-square-foot development at the waterfront edge of Astoria, Queens. If the required zoning amendments are approved, the building will house a mix of market-rate and income-restricted apartments, retail space, and a community facility. The scope of construction also includes 525 parking spaces and over 41,000 square feet of publicly accessible area.

Anish Kapoor’s Bean Sculpture at 56 Leonard Street Awaits Completion in Tribeca, Manhattan

Work has still yet to finish on the amorphous mirrored “bean” sculpture at the base of 56 Leonard Street, an 821-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Tribeca. The art piece, which sits partially complete between the sidewalk and the cantilevering ceiling of the ground floor by the intersection of Church and Leonard Streets, is the work of Anish Kapoor, the creator of Chicago’s chrome steel-plated Cloud Gate and the ArcelorMittal Orbit from the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Herzog & de Meuron and Hill West Architects are the designers of the tower, one of the tallest structures in Lower Manhattan.

One Wall Street’s Residential Conversion and Addition Continues in the Financial District

Work is progressing on the residential conversion and retail addition on the 90-year-old One Wall Street in the Financial District. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Macklowe Properties, the projected $1.5 billion undertaking is poised to be the largest office-to-condominium conversion in New York City history. When complete, the 654-foot-tall property will yield a total of 566 residential units with sales handled and marketed by Compass, as well as a 44,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market and a Life Time fitness center on the lower levels.

18 Sixth Avenue’s Glass Façade Installation Continues in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Façade work is progressing quickly on 18 Sixth Avenue, a 49-story residential skyscraper in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Perkins Eastman and developed by The Brodsky Organization and Greenland Forest City Partners, the 532-foot-tall, 740,000-square-foot building will yield 858 rental units, of which 258 will be dedicated to affordable housing. The property sits directly adjacent to Barclays Center and is bound by Atlantic Avenue to the north and the corner of Sixth Avenue and Pacific Street to the east. 18 Sixth Avenue is the tallest building in the 22-acre Pacific Park master plan and will eventually be joined by a corridor of future buildings running down Atlantic Avenue over the train tracks to the east.

One Clinton Park Tops Out at 55 Clinton Place in New Rochelle

One Clinton Park, a new 28-story mixed-use tower has officially topped out in New Rochelle. Located at 55 Clinton Place, the building will contain 352 market rate apartments and introduce more than 13,000 square feet of retail space in the city’s downtown center.

308 Livingston Street’s Façade Installation Begins in Downtown Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 308 Livingston Street, a 160-unit rental project in Downtown Brooklyn. The 23-story building is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by Lonicera Partners, which purchased the property in May 2019 for $11 million. The site is located between Nevins and Bond Streets.

Five World Trade Center’s 900-Foot-Tall Redesign by Kohn Pedersen Fox Revealed, in Manhattan’s Financial District

In an exciting reveal for the ongoing redevelopment and rebuilding of the World Trade Center, Kohn Pedersen Fox has unveiled the first set of renderings for its proposed 900-foot-tall design for Five World Trade Center, aka 130 Liberty Street. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected the winning bid at a board meeting on Thursday afternoon to allow Silverstein Properties, Brookfield Properties, Omni New York LLC, and Dabar Development Partners to lease the 1.56-million-square-foot mixed-use building under a 99-year ground lease.

540 Fulton Street’s Exterior Nears Completion in Downtown Brooklyn

Exterior work is nearing completion on 540 Fulton Street, a 511-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Downtown Brooklyn. Designed by Marvel Architects and developed by Jenel Management, the 43-story, 330,000-square-foot building will yield 327 residential units, as well as 71,844 square feet of commercial space and 22,054 square feet of retail on the lower podium floors. The project is located at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Fulton Street.

New Renderings, Aerial Photos Revealed for 501 Third Avenue, aka Eastlight, in Kips Bay, Manhattan

YIMBY has an exclusive set of new renderings and photos that depict Eastlight, a 34-story, 388-foot-tall condominium building at 200 East 34th Street in Kips Bay. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by 200 East 34th LLC, who is listed as the owner on permits, the 135,094-square-foot project will yield 144 units and 2,992 square feet of commercial space. The site is located at the corner of Third Avenue and East 34th Street and is alternately addressed 501 Third Avenue. Noble Construction Group is in charge of building the tower, and the teaser site has also launched.

550 Clinton Avenue Reaches 29-Story Pinnacle in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn

Construction has topped out on 550 Clinton Avenue, a 29-story residential tower in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and developed by Hope Street Capital, the structure rises from a four-story podium bound by Atlantic Avenue to the south, Clinton Avenue to the east, and Vanderbilt Avenue to the west. The 280,000-square-foot development will yield 284 apartments and about 60,000 square feet of retail area.
