Today, YIMBY has a look at a new set of renderings for 250 Water Street, a mixed-use supertall proposed to rise in Lower Manhattan’s South Street Seaport District. The skyscraper is being designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill and developed by The Howards Hughes Corporation, which purchased the land from Milstein Properties in 2018 for $180 million. There are several possible iterations for the building with a range of varying heights and designs, the tallest of which could stand 990 feet. Over 700,000 square feet of unused air rights from neighboring properties could be transferred and utilized for the development, and the images today were produced by Siniaevart using the diagrams and models that have already been released, and showcase the 880-foot version of the plans.
Work is continuing on The Fifth Avenue Hotel, an addition and renovation at 250 Fifth Avenue in NoMad. Designed by Perkins Eastman, PBDW Architects, and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio and developed by Flaneur Hospitality, the project involves the construction of a 230-foot-tall, 24-story structure and the renovation and conversion of an adjacent 115-year-old bank building designed by McKim, Mead & White.
Renderings from S. Wieder Architect offer a first look at a new seven-story mixed-use building in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. Located at 2708 Snyder Avenue, the corner property will eventually contain 105 rental apartments, two stories of commercial space, and a 53-vehicle parking garage.
Excavation is getting deeper at 451 Tenth Avenue in Hudson Yards, site of a 580-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper from Handel Architects. Bryan Cho of Related Companies filed permits in early June 2019 for the 44-story building, which will rise directly to the north of 66 Hudson Boulevard, Bjarke Ingels‘ supertall known as The Spiral. A great deal of earth has been excavated from the lot, a former parking lot located between West 35th and 36th Streets and Tenth Avenue and Hudson Boulevard. Spitzer Enterprises is co-developing alongside Related.
Scaffolding and black netting shrouds nearly all of 685 Fifth Avenue in preparation for a 100,000-square-foot office-to-condominium conversion. The project will also add ten floors atop the existing 20-story structure, which sits at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street. Developed by Michael Shvo’s SHVO in partnership with BLG Holdings and Deutsche Financial, the finished building will stand 350 feet tall and contain 69 condominiums managed by Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. Marin is the architect of record and designer for the $135 million project with March & White handling the interior designs. Brookfield Properties is in charge of marketing the Fifth Avenue retail space, which is still home to the Coach, Stuart Weitzman, and Tag Heuer flagship stores.
