52-03 Center Boulevard Nears Topping Out in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is nearing topping out on 52-03 Center Boulevard, a 587-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hunters PointQueens, and number 26 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York. Designed by ODA Architecture with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the 56-story tower is the taller of the two structures in TF Cornerstone‘s Hunters Point South development. The building stands just to the north of its 46-story, 475-foot-tall sibling at 52-41 Center Boulevard, and the pair will bring a total of 1,194 residential units to the East River waterfront. Of these, 719 will be designated for affordable housing.

Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Related Companies, the 44-story project is located between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues, directly to the north of Bjarke Ingels‘ The Spiral at 66 Hudson Boulevard.

Radio Tower & Hotel Tops Out at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights

Construction has topped out on the Radio Tower & Hotel, a 22-story building at 2420 Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights. Designed by MVRDV with executive architect Stonehill & Taylor and developed by Youngwoo & Associates, the building features a ceramic brick façade that breaks away into eight boxy volumes, each with its own distinct color. From top to bottom this includes a vibrant lime green and yellow that transition into subdued blue, red, orange, teal, and magenta materials. Overall, the building’s design draws inspiration from the diversity and vibrancy of the existing neighborhood and is described by MVRDV as a colorful welcome sign to upper Manhattan.

1100 Avenue Of The Americas’ New Glass Façade Installation Progressing in Midtown

Work is progressing on the re-cladding of 1100 Avenue of the Americas, a 15-story office building at the corner of West 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue in Midtown. Designed by MdeAS Architects for Brookfield Properties, the project involves an interior renovation and installation of a modern, transparent glass façade on the 386,190-square-foot structure. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the project, which is located across from the northern corner of Bryant Park and to the east of COOKFOX‘s One Bryant Park.

1059 Third Avenue’s Façade Continues Installation on the Upper East Side

Façade installation is moving along at 1059 Third Avenue, a 481-foot-tall mixed-use tower on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Manuel Glas Architects for Real Estate Inverlad and Third Palm Capital, the slender 30-story structure is located between 62nd Street and 63rd Street and will yield a total of 127,000 square feet of newly built space. The property will contain 38 condominiums spread across 103,900 square feet, averaging around 2,740 square feet apiece.
