Permits have been filed for a two-story mixed-use building at 45-12 Smart Street, in East Flushing, Queens. The site is a mile’s walk from the Main Street Subway Station, end of the line for the 7 train, and the Flushing-Main Street Train Station for the Long Island Rail Road. The site is two blocks from the Flushing Hospital Medical Center. An anonymous LLC is responsible for the development.
New renderings have been released for a proposed facade modification of the historic Restoration Hardware building at 9-19 Ninth Avenue. These images have been included in part of a proposal package submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Commission, and will be reviewed by the LPC later today. The Aurora Capital Associates owned site, in the heart of the Meatpacking District, currently features a steel screen-wall facade with art glass on the upper floors of the brick building. The new design, by Backen Gillam Kroeger Architects, is looking to bring a more symmetrical look to the structure through the renovation.
A Staten Island commercial development at 719 Forest Avenue has come out with a new rendering. Located in West Brighton, the single-story project would be an extension of the commercial thoroughfare along the avenue.
The team behind the La Central Development has closed a deal for financing towards the construction of their massive mixed-use project in the Melrose Community of the South Bronx. This is one of the largest mixed-income projects currently under construction in New York City. Once complete, the project will span 1.1 million square feet, with five buildings and 992 units entirely devoted to affordable housing.
New renderings are out for a twelve-story mixed-use building under construction at 411 West 35th Street, in the Hudson Yards District of Manhattan. The Lewis is named after Lewis Katz, who dedicated his life to improving the chances of success for younger people, particularly those disadvantaged by circumstance. This news corresponds with the launch of leasing for the 186 rental units.
