Foundations Underway at 308 West 43rd Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Foundation work has begun at 308 West 43rd Street, the site of a two-building residential development in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Taconic Partners under the 311 West 42nd Street Associates LLC, the 373,133-square-foot project will yield 321 apartments averaging 839 square feet apiece as well as 25,202 square feet of retail space on the lower floors. Triton Construction is serving as the general contractor for the property, which is located between West 42nd and 43rd Streets and Eighth and Ninth Avenues, directly north of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Raven Hall Completes Construction at 2006 Surf Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn

Developers and city officials recently joined to celebrate the completion of Raven Hall, a 22-story mixed-income rental building in Coney Island. The building is located at 2006 Surf Avenue and introduces a collection of 216 affordable apartments, a public parking garage, and 8,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

H Hotel W39 Nears Halfway Mark at 58 West 39th Street in Midtown, Manhattan

Construction is nearing the halfway mark on H Hotel W39, a 28-story hotel tower at 58 West 39th Street in Midtown. Designed by Peter F. Poon Architects and developed by Wei Hong Hu of H Hotel LLC, the 447-foot-tall structure will yield 65 rooms spread over 41,500 square feet along with meeting rooms and a fitness center. City Cross Construction Corp. is the general contractor for the property, which is located on a narrow plot between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, just one block below Bryant Park.

Permits Filed for 850 Lexington Avenue in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 850 Lexington Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Located between Ralph Avenue and Patchen Avenue, the lot is one block north of the Freeman Street subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. Solomon Equities is listed as the owner behind the applications.

Anish Kapoor’s Bean Sculpture Nears Completion at 56 Leonard Street in Tribeca, Manhattan

Work is nearly complete on Anish Kapoor’s reflective “bean” sculpture at the base of 56 Leonard Street, an 831-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Tribeca. The work sits directly outside the main lobby of the tower, which was designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Hill West Architects and opened in 2017.

Permits have been filed for a seven-story mixed-use building at 545 Coney Island Avenue in Kensington, Brooklyn. Located between Webster Avenue and Newkirk Avenue, the lot is within walking distance of the Avenue H subway station, serviced by the Q train and the 18th Avenue station, serviced by the F train. Zelig Weiss of Riverside Developers is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The Benson Completes Construction at 1045 Madison Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Exterior work is complete on The Benson, an 18-story condominium building at 1045 Madison Avenue in the Carnegie Hill section of the Upper East Side. Designed by Peter Pennoyer and developed by The Naftali Group, the 210-foot-tall structure will yield 16 residential units spread across 59,032 square feet, as well as 3,993 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The majority of the units feature full-floor layouts, and three penthouses are positioned on the upper levels. Leeding Builders Group is the general contractor of the property, which is located between East 79th and East 80th Streets, a short walk from Central Park.

Le Meridien Hotel Completes Construction at 292 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan

Construction is complete on Le Meridien Hotel, a 21-story mixed-use tower at 292 Fifth Avenue in NoMad. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by the McSam Hotel Group, which purchased the property for $42.4 million in March 2017, the structure yields 187 hotel rooms and an unspecified number of residential units on the upper levels. The development is located between West 30th and West 31st Streets.
