Foundation work looks to be complete at 23-20 Jackson Avenue, the site of a nine-story mixed-use hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Designed by KSQ Architects and developed by The Vorea Group, the corner property will yield a grand total of 85,851 square feet, which will be divided into retail, offices, and a 72-room hotel operated by San Francisco-based hotelier Sonder Corp.
On Thursday, August 6, the famous Top of the Rock observation deck reopened to the public after temporarily closing in March 2020. Located atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown the historic observatory offers 360-degree views of New York City, including some of the best vistas of the Empire State Building and the rising skyline of Billionaires’ Row.
Demolition preparations are underway at 45-03 23rd Street in Hunters Point, Queens, the site of a 544-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper. Designed by Fogarty Finger and developed by Charney Companies and Tavros Capital under the Court Square 45th Avenue LLC, the 50-story tower will contain condominiums as well as commercial and community space.
Full demolition permits have been filed for 335 West 39th Street in Midtown West, Manhattan. According to the filing, the site is owned by Jonah Kriger under the 335 West 39th Street Realty Company and currently houses a four-story commercial building with three units. It appears Penn Plaza Consultants is also involved in the partnership. The 43-foot-tall structure was built in 1910.
Curtain wall installation is nearing the parapet of Queens Plaza Park, aka Sven, a 762-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 29-37 41st Avenue in Long Island City. Exterior work on the 67-story tower, which is the second-tallest structure in Queens, has been moving swiftly since its topping out in late June. The 978,000-square-foot project is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed by The Durst Organization, with Selldorf Architects as the interior designer. Hunter Roberts is the general contractor and Jaros, Baum & Bolles Engineering is handling the required mechanical systems for the edifice. The developers are aiming for LEED certification.
