Permits have been filed for a six-story commercial building at 240 Huntington Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located between the Gowanus Canal and Smith Street, the interior lot is one block north of the Smith-9th Street subway station, serviced by the F and G trains. Monadnock Development, a developer known for affordable and market-rate housing, is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Demolition is making steady progress at 550 Washington Street in Hudson Square, the site of Google’s newest 1.3-million-square-foot building. Workers continue to dismantle part of the steel superstructure of St. John’s Terminal, which directly overlooks the Hudson River. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Oxford Properties, the new facility will join two other nearby buildings at 315 Hudson Street and 345 Hudson Street to form a 1.7-million-square-foot “Googleplex.”

Located between East 149th Street and Pontiac Place, the lot is two blocks south of the Jackson Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. YIMBY went to check in on the progress of demolition and excavation for Disney’s new 1.2-million-square-foot headquarters at 137 Varick Street, aka Four Hudson Square, in Lower Manhattan. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and developed in partnership with Silverstein Properties, the 22-story building is slated to stand 320 feet tall. Skanska is overseeing the demolition process for the Hudson Square property, which Disney purchased from Trinity Church Real Estate for $650 million.
The Lionsgate Motion Picture Group will soon debut a new studio complex in Yonkers following the approval of a major financing package from the city’s development agency. The project is expected to create up to 420 permanent jobs as well as 400 construction jobs.
