The lobby at 1345 Avenue of Americas has been renovated, and today, YIMBY has an exclusive first look inside the space. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill were commissioned by Fisher Brothers to redesign the interior. The owners wanted to replace the original white and tan marble with a brighter, more spacious lobby, and the photos indicate that the architects have accomplished exactly that.

Construction Update, New Rendering for 587 Main Street, New Rochelle

When we last checked in on 587 Main Street in New Rochelle, New York, it was barely noticeable on the skyline, rising just six flights up. Now, thanks to photos by Nick Ramacciato, we can see that the structure has made substantial progress. Work is currently up to the 20th floor, out of a total 28. Façade installation has not yet started, though the angled shape of the building is easily visible. Paulus, Sokolowski, and Sartor (PS&S) are responsible for the architecture, and a fresh rendering also gives a better view of what the top floors will soon look like.

Rendering Revealed for 62-66 North Third Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn

A new rendering is out for 62 and 66 North Third Street, two six-story mixed-use buildings in Brooklyn’s flourishing Williamsburg neighborhood. The nearest subway access is the L train’s first stop in Brooklyn, the Bedford Station. The site is just a block away from the river, five blocks south of the State of New York East River Park, and five blocks north of the Domino Sugar Factory development, where a ferry station may soon be built. David Dweck, Steven Ancona, and Michael Marino have joined together for the development.

New York YIMBY’s 2018 Construction Report: New Building Applications Finally Stabilize After Two Years of Massive Drops

Last year, YIMBY’s pipeline report showed a dramatic decrease in new building filings, with 2015’s multi-family count of 32,702 units falling precipitously, to 19,356 in 2016. Fortunately, the hemorrhaging of pipeline additions has nearly come to a complete stop, and 2017 saw filings for 19,180 multi-family units, a drop of under one percent. A new seven-story residential building is starting to rise above its townhouse neighbors on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. 150 Rivington Street is located in a quiet spot of the bustling neighborhood, three blocks away from the Delancey-Essex Street Subway Station, serviced by the F, J, M, and Z trains. Cogswell Lee Development will be responsible for the development, which replaces the old Streitz Matzo Factory.
