Foundation Work Underway on 58-Story, 1.7-Million-Square-Foot Tower One Vanderbilt in East Midtown

On Saturday, four concrete pumps descended on a web of rebar to conduct the first pour for the foundation of One Vanderbilt, a 58-story, 1.7-million-square-foot commercial tower under construction adjacent to Grand Central Terminal in Midtown East. The progress can be seen thanks to photos posted to the YIMBY Forums. The latest building permits have the 1,401-foot-tall tower measuring 1,755,814 square feet.

Development Team Selected to Build 1.2-Million-Square-Foot Expansion at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center

Earlier this week, Empire State Development selected Lendlease Corporation and Turner Construction Company to build the 1.2-million-square-foot expansion at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, located at 655 West 34th Street in Hudson Yards. Atlanta-based firm tvsdesign is the architect on the development team, Commercial Observer reported, and has presumably replaced FXFOWLE Architects.


34-12 Collins Place

Three-Story, 158,500-Square-Foot Self-Storage Facility Planned at 34-12 Collins Place, Flushing

Cook County, Illinois-based LSC Development has filed applications for a three-story, 158,490-square-foot self-storage facility at 34-12 Collins Place, located on the corner 34th Avenue in downtown Flushing. The new building will rise 51 feet in height and will contain storage units across the cellar through third floors. There will be accessory offices on the ground floor, as well as 14 off-street parking spaces and five loading berths. Chicago-based SGW Architects is the architect of record. The 52,738-square-foot plot is occupied by a single-story commercial building at 34-01 College Point Boulevard. Demolition permits have not been filed.
