COOKFOX-Designed 41 West 23rd Street Begins to Rise Above Ground in Chelsea

With a very small footprint at ground level, the COOKFOX-designed 41 West 23rd Street is starting to rise above a narrow construction site. The tower will stand 322 feet to its rooftop, totaling 25 stories, and featuring a cantilever in its upper half. Anbau Enterprises is the developer of the project, which previously received approval from the Landmarks Preservation Commission due to its slight cantilever on the eastern elevation.

Full demolition permits have been filed for the four-story building at 192 Montague Street, also known as 200 Montague, in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. The 46,000 square-foot office building was built in 1960, and has a total of three units across the four floors. In 2007, Midtown Equities acquired 200 Montague from HSBC Bank. There is also a retail component at the ground level. James M. Patterson of Ancora Engineering is listed as the applicant of record.

BIG’s Second Twisting Tower for “The XI” Begins Rapid Ascent Above The High Line in Chelsea, at 76 Eleventh Avenue

Since its first tower topped-out, The XI has been making steady progress, and now the project’s second residential building is starting to rise adjacent to The High Line. Designed using the same architectural language, the second tower’s twisting profile will compliment its larger sibling directly to the west. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, developed by HFZ Capital, and built by Omnibuild, the XI is located at 76 11th Avenue and is one of the newest additions to come to Chelsea’s High Line corridor.
