Excavation is progressing at 200 East 20th Street, the site of a 19-story residential building in the Gramercy Park section of Manhattan. Designed by CetraRuddy and developed by Glacier Global Partners, the 210-foot-tall structure will yield 82,800 square feet with 52 condominium units spread across 65,500 square feet and 2,730 square feet of retail space. CM & Associates Construction Management is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of East 20th Street and Third Avenue.

City Agency Approves Five Mixed-Use Residential Developments in Yonkers, New York

The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has approved five new residential and commercial developments across the waterfront city. The developments are projected to create more than 600 construction jobs and over 300 apartments, including affordable housing for low-income seniors.

New York City Approves Contract for $7 Billion Penn Station Redesign in Midtown, Manhattan

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, in partnership with NJ Transit and Amtrak, approved a contract for the redesign of Penn Station, a project that could cost the city $7 billion. The joint venture project team includes architect of record FXCollaborative, global engineering firm WSP, and British design studio John McAslan and Partners which will serve as a design consultant.

Construction is complete on The Kira, a 139-unit affordable and supportive housing project at 153-19 Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, Queens. Designed by GF55 Partners and developed by New Destiny Housing, BFC Partners, and SMJ Development, the 21-story mixed-use building houses a mix of rental apartments, a 5,000-square-foot retail space on the ground floor, and on-site supportive services.

Permits Filed for 489 Ninth Avenue in Midtown West, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for an 11-story mixed-use building at 489 Ninth Avenue in Manhattan’s Midtown West. Located between West 37th and West 38th Streets, the lot is four blocks from 34th Street-Penn Station subway station, serviced by the A, C, and E trains. Susan Wu of ZD Jasper Realty is listed as the owner behind the applications.

787 Eleventh Avenue’s Renovation and Expansion Nears Completion in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

Renovation and expansion work is nearing completion on 787 Eleventh Avenue, a ten-story commercial building in Hell’s Kitchen. Designed by Rafael Viñoly and developed by the Georgetown Company, the project involved the restoration of the historic structure’s façade, modernization of its interiors, and the construction of an 86,000-square-foot, two-story extension above the original parapet. JLL is in charge of leasing and Hunter Roberts Construction Group is the general contractor for the property, which is bound by West 55th Street to the north, West 54th Street and DeWitt Clinton Park to the south, and Eleventh Avenue to the east.

New Renderings Unveiled of 595 Dean Street in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Developer TF Cornerstone has released new exterior renderings of 595 Dean Street, a two-building mixed-use development in the Pacific Park masterplan in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects, the 23-story West Tower and 28-story East Tower will comprise a total of 798 units with 240 homes slated for affordable housing. Additional components include 3,412 square feet of ground-floor retail space, 72,600 square feet of public open space designed by Matthews Nielsen Landscape Architects, a 469-vehicle parking garage, and a 103,028-square-foot Chelsea Piers Fitness Center and Field House.

One Madison Avenue’s Tower Expansion Begins Steel Assembly in Flatiron District, Manhattan

Construction is rising on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial expansion in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation and expansion of a former eight-story structure and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full block bound by East 23rd and 24th Streets and Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South.
