YIMBY has word that Tishman Speyer has finalized lease agreements for all 1.2 million square feet of its recently completed office development known as “The JACX,” in Long Island City. While the property has not officially debuted, the building’s list of tenants includes Macy’s, Inc., New York-Presbyterian, Bloomingdale’s, WeWork, and a primary care practice operated by Weill Cornell Medicine.

The outdoor mall, currently under construction, is served by five subway lines in the area, including the E, F, M, and R trains at 74th Street and Broadway, as well as the 7 train at the 82nd Street station. The project is situated in a prime shopping district of Jackson Heights, with more than 20 national and regional chain stores, and is also easily accessible by car via the Grand Central Parkway, Brooklyn Queens Expressway, and the Long Island Expressway.

Full demolition permits have been filed for 114 East 14th Street, the former retail space of P.C. Richard & Sons, also known as 124 East 14th Street. The appliance shop closed their two-story, 20,000-square-foot location last winter. In November of 2018, we reported the city’s Economic Development Corp. has been soliciting proposals to redevelop the site into new office space for up and coming business tenants in creative and tech industries in the neighborhood, and had since filed new construction permits for a 22-floor commercial building.

Williamsburg’s Newest Skyscraper Revealed at 159 Broadway, Adjacent to the Williamsburgh Savings Bank

Flying under the radar for some time, excavation work on 159 Broadway Avenue is beginning to make some progress in Williamsburg. Today, YIMBY also has the first rendering for the impressively-scoped project, thanks to the construction fencing. Situated across from Peter Luger Steakhouse and immediately south of the Williamsburg Bridge, the site sits adjacent to the Williamsburgh Savings Bank. The 144-year old landmarked, domed structure will soon be surpassed by its future 133,340 square foot, 277-foot tall neighbor. This upcoming tower is set to become one of the tallest buildings in the neighborhood. It is being designed by Stonehill & Taylor Architects and is being developed by Cornell Realty Management LLC.
