City Hall Park’s Development Boom In Full Swing as Both 25 Park Row and 1 Beekman Street Now Rising, Financial District

Construction is moving along quickly for two new towers on City Hall Park. The park is one of just three major public outdoor areas in the Financial District, making any development around it particularly important. The buildings photographed for this article are 25 Park Row and 1 Beekman Street, which will add a combined 142 new condominiums and nearly 67,000 square feet of commercial space to the neighborhood.

Permits have been filed for a ten-story mixed-use building at 107-02 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, Queens. The site is half a block away from the Forest Hills 71^st Avenue subway station, serviced by the E, F, M, and R trains, and RJ Capital Holdings is the developer.

Conceptual Supertall Design Revealed For 265 West 45th Street, Midtown West

The experimental minds of RB Systems have published a new concept for a plot of vacant land at 265 West 45^th Street, in Midtown West, and today YIMBY has a first look at their sky-high renderings. As Manhattan begins to embrace taller and slimmer supertall towers that meet the intense demand of the residential market, the proposal explores how office space could take advantage of the same emerging typology.

Renderings Revealed for 1548 Bedford Avenue, ODA-Designed Hotel in Crown Heights, Brooklyn

Permits were filed back in July of 2016 for a new hotel at 1548 Bedford Avenue, in Crown Height, Brooklyn. Though construction has not yet started, new renderings by ODA have revealed a daring, low-slung arched building adorned with a dark concrete façade. The hotel is located just two blocks away from the Franklin Avenue subway station, serviced by the 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. The Botanic Garden subway station is one block further, serviced by the Shuttle trains.

Permits Filed for 70-65 Queens Boulevard, Elmhurst, Queens

Permits have been filed for a ten-story mixed-use building at 70-65 Queens Boulevard, in Elmhurst, Queens. The site is eight blocks away from the Elmhurst Avenue subway station, serviced by the E, M, and R trains. Skyhill III Group is behind the applications.

Foster + Partners-Designed 425 Park Avenue Begins Slow Rise in Midtown East

425 Park Avenue in Midtown East has been the focus of much interest, with good reason. Unlike the full demolition and larger replacement impending for the Union Carbide Building, the old pre re-zoning regulations forced 425 Park’s developers to maintain 25% of the extant structure in order to build to its exact original square footage. Now, steel and concrete for the Foster + Partners creation are finally rising above the old shell, and the project is slowly moving upwards and into the neighborhood skyline.

Streitz Matzo Factory-Replacing 150 Rivington Street Tops Out on Lower East Side

Construction at 150 Rivington Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side has moved along quickly. YIMBY last reported on the site’s progress in January, when the structure was just two stories high. Now, the building has topped-out, at seven stories. Cogswell Lee Development is responsible for the project, which replaces the former Streitz Matzo Factory.

Inside Look at One Vanderbilt as Midtown East’s First New Supertall Begins Rapid Rise

The tower had reached the milestone of finally surpassing its massive cantilevering base, revealing its full width to pedestrians. Demolition permits have been filed for the existing structures at 1297 and 1299 3^rd Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, between 74^th and 75^th Street. The site is three blocks away from the 77^th Street subway station, serviced by the 4 and 6 trains, and four blocks away from the 72^nd Street subway station, serviced by the Q trains. Continental Ventures is listed as responsible for the demolition.
