Architecture firm Gensler will again appear before the city’s Landmarks Preservation Commission in defense of proposals to construct a rooftop addition at One Broadway in Battery Park, Manhattan. Following lukewarm feedback from the commission, new renderings reveal an overall reduction of mass including structural height, exterior cladding, and shape.
Construction has begun on the structural frames for 425 Park Avenue‘s trio of decorative parapet fins in Midtown East. The 47-story, 897-foot-tall building is designed by Norman Foster, head of Foster + Partners, and is being developed by L&L Holding Company LLC. Adamson Associates is the architect of record.
Permits have been filed for a 13-story mixed-use building at 227 Duffield Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Located between Willoughby Street and Fulton Street, the lot is located near several subway stations, including Hoyt Street with the 2 and 3 trains; DeKalb Avenue with the B, Q, and R trains; and Jay Street-Metrotech with the A, C, and F trains. Also nearby are a few high-rise residential developments in progress like 9 DeKalb Avenue and Brooklyn Point at 138 Willoughby Street. Architecture firm Studio Gang’s stunning contribution to Manhattan’s iconic High Line Park is now complete. Known simply as ‘Solar Carve’, the 10-story office building features a prismatic, gem-like façade designed to reduce the structure’s shadow on the surrounding neighborhood.
Permits have been filed for a 24-story mixed-use building at 92-33 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens. Located between Jamaica Avenue and Archer Avenue, the lot is four blocks east of the Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer subway station, serviced by the E, J, and Z trains.
