Single-Story, 4,000-Square-Foot Former Military Building Could Get Commercial Conversion, Fort Wadsworth

The National Park Service has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Building 109, a long-vacant, one-and-a-half-story, 4,063-square-foot structure in Fort Wadsworth, located on Staten Island just south of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The proposal seeks to attract a developer that would transform it into commercial space, according to DNAinfo. Potential uses include office space, community facility space for a non-profit, or commercial-retail space. Proposals are due on June 15. It was once used by military personnel. Much of the former military instillation is now federal public park space. The site is a piece of the Gateway National Recreation Area, which is maintained by the National Park Service.

Four-Story, 13,000-Square-Foot Multi-Use Building Planned at 944 Home Street, Longwood

Long Island-based Lion State Management has filed applications for a four-story, 13,047-square-foot multi-use commercial building at 944 Home Street, in the Bronx’s Longwood neighborhood, located a block from the Freeman Street stop on the 2/5 trains. The ground and second floors will host 5,349 square feet of retail space, while the third and fourth floors will contain 5,023 square feet of community facility space, which will be used for medical offices. Suk Hwan Kim’s Flushing-based Design Group In H&K is the architect of record. The 2,675-square-foot site, at the corner of Southern Boulevard, is currently vacant.

Commercial Conversion Possible for Six-Story, 84,650-Square-Foot Industrial Building at 780 East 135th Street, Port Morris

Bluestone Group, Altmark Capital, and Princeton Holdings have acquired, for $14.1 million, the six-story, 84,650-square-foot industrial building at 780 East 135th Street, in Port Morris, located five blocks from the Cypress Avenue stop on the 6 train. The previous owner was using the building as a storage facility, although the property is being delivered vacant. The new owners are considering converting it into creative office space or artists’ lofts, according to Commercial Observer. The exact plans for the structure have not yet been finalized or official disclosed.
