220 Central Park South’s Exterior Mechanical Elevator Coming Down, in Midtown

Construction on 220 Central Park South is starting to wrap up, as the exterior mechanical elevator is finally being disassembled. The 67-story residential tower will contain 593,000 square feet of prime real estate, and stands 950 feet tall above Midtown and Central Park South. Robert A. M. Stern Architects is the lead architect while SLCE Architects is the executive architect. Vornado Realty Trust is the developer of the nearly $3.4 billion dollar project. Interiors are being designed by Thierry W. Despont.

New Renderings Reveal Residential Building at 2175 Bergen Street, Brooklyn

S. Wieder Architect has released renderings of a new residential development at 2175 Bergen Street in Brooklyn, New York. Located in the cross-hairs of the Crown Heights and Brownsville neighborhoods, the building will replace a two-story structure, and a neighboring lot.

192 Seventh Avenue South Tops Out, Exterior Work Continues in The West Village

Work on 192 Seventh Avenue South in the West Village is making steady progress. Underneath the black construction netting and scaffolding, the mixed-use building has already topped-out and the exterior brick and glass curtain wall can be seen from across the street. The building is being designed by SRA Architecture + Engineering and replaces an old one-story commercial structure. It is being developed by The Jackson Group and will contain four full-floor residences.

Permits Filed for 78 Gerry Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Permits have been filed for a six-story apartment building at 78 Gerry Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Located between Harrison Avenue and Throop Avenue, the lot is three blocks south of the Lorimer Street subway station, serviced by the J and M trains. Sol Moskowitz of Sanford Realty LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.

New Video Highlights Central Park Tower as the Tallest Residential Building in the World

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill have released a new video featuring Central Park Tower. The future 1,550-foot tall skyscraper will soon eclipse 432 Park Avenue as the tallest residential building in the world. The site is addressed as 217 West 57th Street, and will be the tallest skyscraper on 57th Street, aka “Billionaire’s Row,” within the next few months. Recent photos also show construction getting closer to the 137-story pinnacle.

Construction Making Headway for Minskoff’s 11-19 Jane Street, in The West Village

11-19 Jane Street is an upcoming mixed-use residential and commercial project tightly nestled among the narrow streets of the West Village. The new 31,000 square foot structure will eventually rise six stories from a large rectangular plot of land that once held a two-story parking garage. It is being designed by London-based design firm David Chipperfield Architects, and developed by Edward Minskoff of Minksoff Equities. A total of seven residential units will be housed inside the building, averaging 2,382 square feet each.

Two Affordable Housing Projects Revealed in Hell’s Kitchen, at 705 Tenth Avenue and 806 Ninth Avenue

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development has announced the construction of two affordable housing projects in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan. Together, the 100% affordable housing developments will create more than 250 homes for low-income families and the formerly homeless.

Permits have been filed for a 24-story mixed-use tower at 224 East 135th Street in Mott Haven, The Bronx. The corner lot, also marked as 198 East 135th Street, is located between Major Deegan Expressway and the 3rd Avenue Bridge. Three blocks away is the 3rd Avenue-138 Street subway station, serviced by the 6 train. Cheskel Schwimmer of CGS Builders listed as the owner behind the applications. Cheskel previously filing permits in 2015 for a 25-story building with 465 apartment units.

Renderings Revealed for Harlem’s Future Tallest Skyscraper, at 260-270 West 126th Street

A new mixed-use residential skyscraper is scheduled to rise at 260-270 West 126th Street in Central Harlem. Renderings have recently been released for the upcoming 385,000 square foot structure. Along with apartments, there will also be a church on the ground floor and a three-story theater. The Thomas Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church partially occupies the property. The location of the proposed 42-story tower sits to the west of the famous Apollo Theater and has been used as a parking lot for a number of years. The dimensions of the site are about 125 feet long and 10 feet deep.

The Lively at 321 Warren Street Tops Out Above Downtown Jersey City

The Lively recently topped-out at 321 Warren Street in Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District. Today, YIMBY has another update on the 18-story mixed-use structure. Due to its quick construction schedule, the development is expected to debut this summer with move-ins around July. It is designed by Fogarty Finger Architecture and developed by LMC. There will be 180 apartments, 1,343 square feet of ground-floor retail, and a 14,200-square-foot black-box theater with dedicated space for local artists.
