The concrete superstructure is taking shape for the futuristic William Vale hotel at 55 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, and it already looks as interesting as the rendering released last year.
Three years ago during Hurricane Sandy, flooding ravaged the Madeleine Jones Head Start Center on Neptune Avenue in Coney Island, and its owners, Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens, began their search for a new location and a new building to house their daycare center.
Curbed reports that Cary Tamarkin is planning a residential conversion and expansion of 555 West End Avenue, a six-story structure on the Upper West Side, at West 87th Street. The building was acquired for $50 million last October, and Tamarkin is also designing the project, which will be presented before the LPC later this month.
Pentacostal Faith Church has filed applications for an eight-story, 32-unit mixed-use building at the vacant corner-lot of 400 Lenox Avenue, in Harlem, at West 130th Street. Within the 31,950 square-foot structure, a religious facility will measure 8,100 square feet, and commercial space will take up another 1,940 square feet; Zambrano Architectural Design is the architect of record, and the site’s three-story predecessor was demolished in 2005.
Brownstoner reports the three contiguous properties spanning 626-630 5th Avenue, in Park Slope, are being redeveloped into 26 to 28 residential units by their new owner, George Malafis. His development plans have not yet been filed with the DOB, but the existing buildings rise three stories and amount to 22,500 square feet. The current retail tenant is expecting to move out in the coming weeks.
