Demolition Update: 520 West 41st Street, Silverstein’s Future West Side Supertall

The old Mercedes dealership at 520 West 41st Street and Eleventh Avenue is meeting a quick demise, paving the way for Silverstein Properties to begin preparation work for their future mixed-use development. While the project must still pass through ULURP, YIMBY revealed preliminary renderings last June, showing a 1,400-unit tower rising above a significant retail podium. 12-Story, 126-Unit Affordable Residential Project Filed At 294 East 162nd Street, Melrose

NoMad-based Bell Urban, LLC, has filed applications for a 12-story, 126-unit affordable housing project at 294 East 162nd Street, in Melrose, right around the corner from the neighborhood’s Metro North station, and seven blocks from the 4 train at Yankee Stadium. The building will total 117,398 square feet, which works out to an average unit of 932 square feet. Midtown South-based Dattner Architects is the applicant of record, and two 2.5-story, wood-framed homes were demolished in 2014.


260 West 78th Street

18-Story, 66-Unit Residential Conversion & Expansion Revealed At 260 West 78th Street, Upper West Side

Collegiate Churches of New York has filed applications to transform the 12-story buildings at 370-378 West End Avenue, on the Upper West Side, into a single residential structure with 66 units. The Collegiate School building at 370 West End will be replaced with an 18-story structure, and once connected with 378 West End, will measure 198,095 square feet. Units will average 3,000 square feet apiece, and COOKFOX Architects is designing.
