Public Review Begins For Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan

The New York City Planning Commission, led by Chair Dan Garodnick, has initiated the review process for the Bronx Metro-North Station Area Plan. The plan is designed to enhance the East Bronx service in conjunction with new Metro-North stations slated for Parkchester/Van Nest, Morris Park, Hunts Point, and Co-op City. The four proposed stations, if approved, will be scheduled to open in 2027 and will connect Bronx residents with crucial job centers across the New York City metropolitan area.

Foundations Underway for COOKFOX’s 335 Eighth Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Foundations are underway at 335 Eighth Avenue, the site of a seven-story mixed-use building in Chelsea, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by MAG Partners and Penn South aka Mutual Redevelopment Houses, Inc., with financing provided by global holding company Safanad, the structure will span around 200,000 square feet and yield 188 rental units in studio to two-bedroom layouts, as well as a 23,000-square-foot Lidl supermarket and additional ground-floor retail space. Thirty percent of the homes will be reserved for affordable housing. Urban Atelier Group is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue and West 26th Street within the Penn South affordable housing cooperative, officially known as Mutual Redevelopment Houses.

Designed by Aaron Yassin in collaboration with architect Robert Bianchini of ARC Architecture + Design and developed by Hive Developers, the structure will yield ten condominium units in large one-bedroom, compact two-bedroom, duplex two-bedroom, and three-bedroom duplex layouts with private terraces. Tal Bloch and Empire Builders are working collaboratively as general contractors for the project, which is located between Wyckoff Avenue and Irving Avenue.
