A former Jehovah’s Witness Hotel at 90 Sands Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn will soon be transformed into 491-unit residential property with a mix of deeply affordable and supportive housing units. From Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest supportive housing developer, construction is expected to kick off before the end of November.
Permits have been filed for a four-story residential building at 1437 Hancock Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Located between Irving Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue, the interior lot is two blocks west of the Halsey Street subway station, serviced by the L train. Horizon Group under the 1504 Jeff LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The affordable housing lottery is now open for Fountain Seaview B3 Apartments, a nine-story mixed-use development at 881 Erskine Street in East New York, Brooklyn. Designed by Aufgang Architects and developed by Arker Companies, the 131,386-square-foot will yield a total 144 units in a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Available on NYC Housing Connect are 112 apartments for residents at 30 to 60 percent of the area median income, ranging in eligible income from $13,543 to $84,600. The building is one of eight in the redevelopment of the former state-run Brooklyn Developmental Center site, with a mix of residential, retail, and community space. Overall Fountain Seaview will have 1,169 residential units with 397 of those designated as affordable housing.
Work is continuing on “The Alfred on Fleet,” a 12-story residential building at 112 Fleet Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Alternately addressed as 167 Willoughby Street, the project is designed by Bricolage Design Associates and developed by Boomerang Development Group and will yield 24,250 square feet and 23 condominium units.
Work is continuing on the loft conversion and two-story expansion of 168 Plymouth Street in the DUMBO, Brooklyn Historic District. Led by Alloy Development, the development will bring 46 units to a 100-year-old structure that was once the home of the Concrete Daylight Factory at 42 Jay Street. The adjacent 130-year-old Brick & Timber Building at 50 Jay Street is also part of the project and is undergoing renovations as well as a one-story expansion. The site is located at the southwestern corner of Plymouth and Jay Streets, a short walk from the East River and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
